Meet the Host and Guests

00:00:20
Speaker
Hello everybody, and welcome back to another brand new episode of Tony's Game Lounge. I'm your host as always, Tony14, just getting off the high of a 13 and a half hour live stream, ah celebrating my four year anniversary on Twitch, which is like ah six months after we started the podcast.
00:00:39
Speaker
And joining us this week on episode 20 of season eight. It's a duo. The iconic speed running sonic duo of Don Senior and Emerald. Yo, what's going God is sorry. And Emerald. Hello, low boys. Welcome back together. Yeah, it's been a bit since the last time we were here, but always love coming through to to Tony's game lounge, you know.
00:01:08
Speaker
Chatting it up about some games and stuff. yes always Yeah, it's always a good time. We we tend to get together whenever we got some big releases coming up. Yeah, the fact that it it works out like this, it just it's just it's just it's the way it be.

Hot Takes Segment

00:01:23
Speaker
You know, yeah, the way it be, it do well because we have both of you guys back and we do have a brand new intro segment for returning guests. It's hot takes where the two of you get to give me your hottest video game take.
00:01:39
Speaker
OK, I have one off the top of my head that I can think of that might not actually be the hottest of takes, but I do have one. Let's hear it. I think.
00:01:55
Speaker
that most sports game releases are always bad. This is not really a hot take because I feel like they don't really improve on any formulas or anything. But i i as somebody who like, I mean, I grew up playing baseball. I used to like playing the sports, like the baseball games, like growing up. um But like these days I'm never compelled to be like, oh yeah, I want to try FIFA. Oh, I want to try Madden. Oh, I want to try to NCAA football or like any like golf game. The only time like I've ever interested in like a sports game is any time like maybe Nintendo is on it, but let's be real. All the Nintendo sports games that are coming out these last few years have been pretty. They've left a lot to be desired, especially compared to their their their older titles, you know. Yeah. So I guess that might not be the steamiest of takes, but I'm just going to say that they're I think sports games are bad. I cannot believe how popular they are to like the normal to the normal like
00:02:48
Speaker
not super invested gamers. And it it actually confuses me how they still sell well and they still release a title every year. I wonder, I wonder if like the corporations are paying EA just X amount of money and it's like, OK, cool. And they like take they save like most of that and then take a small bit of it to put towards the game so they don't lose anything. And it's just net profits. Right. Yeah, that would be nice.
00:03:15
Speaker
yeah Especially like FIFA people eat FIFA up every time that's like their game. Yeah, it's no longer called EA can't call it FIFA anymore They have to call it FC because they lost the FIFA rights specifically. Oh, yeah, that's right. I forgot about that Yeah, I completely forgot about two until the new their newest one FC 25 came out I'm like, oh, yeah, they can't call it FIFA anymore. Yeah Yeah, I wonder if that's gonna hurt their sales too. I mean, people like football enough. I think it's everything else. It's the same shit, just different paint. Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense. No, it always just, it always baffled me. Like when I was working my kitchen job before I was like doing streaming full-time, like how many people were like, Hey bro, you trying to hop on FIFA tonight? It's like, what do you mean? You guys actually play those? That's crazy.
00:04:05
Speaker
Or 2K, I guess 2K, you know what? 2K, I'll give it up. It seems like 2K is like one of the sports games that like really shines through. I don't know, I've never played it, maybe not. um that people seem to generally like them, except for when they have the weird, like, transactions in them, like the microtransactions. Yeah. That's fair. I mean, I i think I played once 2K sports game, and it was NHL 09 2K. And it was good. It was good. I've i've had it. I played it for the Wii, I think. It was good. It did its job. Man. What about you, Don? What's your hot take?
00:04:39
Speaker
Man, I'm kind of struggling to exactly say, i I don't know if this is necessarily a hot take anymore, but I think PS5 is actually worth it. Whoa, that actually might be a hot take though. like Especially for me, because I'm a big like Square Enix fan, right? So ah like Final Fantasy is a big thing. I'm like really sad I haven't been able to play those games. And then you just know when Kingdom Hearts comes out, that's going to be PS5 exclusive for a bit.
00:05:05
Speaker
I don't know because was Kingdom Hearts 3 like a fully exclusive game when it released? Because it's on every now. All right. Yeah, no, it's still hadn't gone through yet, right? Yeah, it was on Xbox and PlayStation, but it was like that weird time where they were doing both.
00:05:22
Speaker
Well, I think now it'll probably be exclusive to PS5 for a bit and then it'll come to Steam and Xbox would be my guess. um Really depends on the timing of the game, I guess. But, you know, I feel like year after year, we've gotten more where we had the Ratchet and Clank game way back when I was like, oh, I kind of want to play that, but it's not worth it, you know? Yeah. Then we got Final Fantasy and then we got another Final Fantasy. And then we have Astrobot. Astrobot's so good, too.
00:05:50
Speaker
Yeah, I really want to play them all and I'm like, man, maybe it's worth, um especially because, like, sometimes PS5 is like actually better ah than PC in terms of like, loading times or, you know, ah visuals, graphics, stuff like that.
00:06:06
Speaker
um I don't know. they They can just develop really well for the PS5 because they know exactly what hardware they're going to have. And it's so powerful. um I don't know. I mean, still, I'm not getting the PS5 Pro. That's ridiculous. OK, I don't know. no ah So when they announced that I'm being the Canadian here, I, you know, went to the price conversions. It costs like essentially a thousand dollars to get that. Which at that point, you might as well just save up for a PC.
00:06:38
Speaker
Yeah, I kind of agree. Definitely. Yeah, it's it's absolutely nutty. I think the. Yeah, it's just. ah ah If if if you're a listener out there who's actually going to get the PS5 Pro, let us know. Like you can comment on these podcasts now on Spotify, which is wild. Like you can even do that now. um Let us know if you're going to get one.
00:07:04
Speaker
yeah Also, let us know if you have some availability on your private yacht If we can like take a trip with you like have some like hors d'oeuvres or something on there, you know They'll play sonic really fast for you. Yeah that true Bring that bring the ps5 Pro on the yacht, of course.

Gaming News and Announcements

00:07:22
Speaker
Yeah yeah ah Well, let's get into our headline of the week, which there was a lot ah lot of stuff that happened the Tokyo game show happened um There was a live letter from Final Fantasy But there was so much that we went with for the headline the PlayStation stay to play um That happened on September 24th and you know what? I looked at the rank like every time one ends, you know, you go to Twitter Jeff Keeley has how would you rank this event?
00:07:50
Speaker
And it was a good consensus of it was a solid BC tier of level, depending on how you felt about certain things. Starting off, they announced that Astro Bot is getting free DLC later this fall, adding five new speedrun levels and 10 more bots to rescue, which is just great. The game is fantastic, as I've said before. I've already platinumed it. I've done everything you can in that game. And just doing more is great.
00:08:18
Speaker
And I am so ready for it. We then got a couple ah new titles revealed to us. The Midnight Walk, which is a claymation art style type horror adventure type game coming out for the PS5 and PSVR2. We got a trailer for Hell is Us, this third-person action-looking game. People are saying, oh, possible Souls-like. I don't know if it's gonna be a Souls-like thing, but... Third-person action spooky horror vibes as well Metro awakening VR coming out November 7th our gauge Chronicles Didn't stand out that much. It's coming out next year pal world coming out on PlayStation 5. It's out right now actually and It's just like man the timing of this with a lot of other things that we'll get into later in the podcast Pal world also announced that it's working on mobile plans, but the game on mobile devices
00:09:13
Speaker
as Well, which is wild um then we got one of the two first of the two remastered games that they announced a lunar remastered collection coming out spring 2025 for ps4 and ps5 Which is great because now you don't have to spend like hundreds of dollars to play lunar Anymore because the games are really really expensive Did you guys ever play lunar at all?
00:09:40
Speaker
No, no, I saw the I saw the trailer for the game and it felt like a game that like when they were showing it off, I was like, maybe I should know this. But I after like, you know, watching it over because I ended up watching it back, um I was like, OK, I have never really seen this game before. It looks neat. It looks interesting. I'll be I was curious if there was like a really big like ah like fandom behind it or something that I've been like waiting for this for like years or something like that. It was kind of like.
00:10:06
Speaker
Well, I was thinking in the back of my head, it does look interesting. I might even consider picking it up at some point because I do kind of like the older RPGs sometimes, you know, check out some reviews of it or something because it's never been on my radar. Yeah, for what I gathered. And again, it's my my boy Zach, Mr. Trashman himself. ah He's the one who um told me about Lunar Briar to all of this. And he's like, yeah, there it's like one of the most expensive like PlayStation games nowadays because of.
00:10:35
Speaker
lack of Inventory of when they produced it all of that stuff. It's like oh, yep, that makes sense. That's yeah, it makes sense um TMNT shutters revenge as getting new DLC the radical reptiles DLC which adds mondo gecko and Mona Lisa and a new remixed OST are both out now and Then, they showed us some Sonic stuff. Sonic the Hedgehog free movie pack for Sonic X Shadow Generations. It comes out to December 12th, so about a month and a half after the game releases. It's goingnna be it's included with the Digital Deluxe Edition, which also gets you three-day early access. And this lets you play as Keanu Reeves, Shadow the Hedgehog.
00:11:22
Speaker
Yeah, this was kind of crazy because, I mean, we'll get into it in a bit, I'm sure, but, you know, we had the Sonic Central literally the same day. The same day. And it was first. The Sonic Central was first. Yeah. So we thought we got everything for this game. And then I'm just sitting there watching the state of play. And this drops. I'm like, for a second, I thought it was Kingdom Hearts. I'm not going to lie.
00:11:44
Speaker
yeah why Yeah, I like the open area that's like the crossing. It just looked like Kingdom Hearts vibes. I don't know why. Yeah, no, it definitely did. I like was very surprised to see anything else for shadow or or for shadow generations um in the state of play. And I actually it actually kind of confused me because like when they.
00:12:07
Speaker
held off on this information and didn't put it in the Sonic Central, I was like, oh, is this like a PlayStation exclusive thing? But apparently it's not. Apparently this is something that you're going to be able to get ah on any platform with the digital deluxe edition.
00:12:21
Speaker
um But that's it's really neat. I was just like, dang, I didn't realize I didn't realize they were holding out some more information. I feel like that that people would have lost their minds if they had seen this in the Sonic Central. But I do understand that that is more tailored towards like hardcore Sonic fans. This is like a good way for them to like market it to people who like vaguely know Sonic and know that the movie's coming out. But like, uh, definitely weren't going to watch the Sonic Central. So.
00:12:48
Speaker
Yeah, no, definitely. Definitely. We then got a new, I guess, trailer for Fantasia Neo Dimension, which was originally shown off on a Nintendo Direct. um I think this was just to show that. It's like, hey, it's coming out on everything, not just the Switch. ah Game comes out December 5th. This is a big game because it's the original creator of Final Fantasy who's working on this. And um oh my God, the composer as well did the soundtrack for it as well, which is just...
00:13:17
Speaker
always very exciting to see. I'm excited for this because of the whole you can save random encounters in this like cyberspace and fight them as like a bunch later, which I think is really cool ah as a cool way to deal with trash mobs and just stuff like that. um We then got i a good chunk of section for gameplay for Dragon Age of the Valeguard, which comes out October 31st.
00:13:45
Speaker
It looks all right. like I'm not very interested in Dragon Age, so this just did it. I legit just skipped through this part when I watched the the the state of play, because I'm just like, I kind of don't care. I just don't care. But Dragon Age just isn't for me. I haven't played any of the Dragon Ages before, so maybe if I did play them, maybe I would care. But right now, I don't.
00:14:10
Speaker
Then Alan make to the lake house expansion ah They i announced that now has the October release and this is exclusive to the deluxe edition as well apparently um and this is the next expansion for Alan wake to which emerald here has played and Yes. Oh my gosh. Such a phenomenal game. This is okay. This is your sign. If you haven't given Alan Wig a chance, this is your sign to go try it. Cause Alan Wig two is such a phenomenal game. The like, ah it does such a great job at, uh, creating, um,
00:14:44
Speaker
I guess I don't really know how to put it into words. Like it's really good at like pacing, creating like nerves and like making you feel like the tension and the moments and stuff. And like it's it's got insanely good storytelling. um It has a deep and rich lore. Honestly, before you play Alan Wake to, of course, you should definitely play Alan Wake one. But you should also play control, which like I actually did not know until I played Alan Wake one that it was like can or Sorry, well, I did know eventually, but like when I started playing Control, I didn't know that it was connected to the Alan Wake series. So then I had to be like, oh, let me go back and actually play Alan Wake 1. And then, of course, after I finished both games, I was like, well, I got to play Alan Wake 2. So I'm super, super excited. I haven't played the the DLC for Alan Wake 2 yet. I just haven't had time like the first expansion, but I'm definitely looking forward to the Lakehouse one. And then there's Alan Wake American Nightmare, which is currently only available on the Epic Games Store.
00:15:39
Speaker
Oh, why did they do that? That's crazy. Yeah, that is crazy. I mean, I got it because I'm going to play that next when I finally get back around to playing out and like because the first game is a great game. It is a bit dated. It is a bit dated. I will date it. It's a bit corny. There's some moments in there that are going to make you laugh, but it is still a good story. Yeah, he also simply played that one for the first time the the remastered version and yeah it It was super corny like you said it was a bit dated But it's still a really cool game like it'll it'll definitely get you interested in in the world Yeah, and the corniness is gone. I promise you in the next it's not it's not there. It's a lot more serious
00:16:17
Speaker
It also space oddity in the end credits is gone of the first Alan Wake because of licensing. Mm. Yeah. Mm hmm. Big so big sad, but understandable. ah Back to the state of play. Hitman, World of Assassination VR was shown off and it's coming out December, which is like, you know what? Play Hitman of VR. That just sounds like a ah fun time. that That sounds really fun. I would get a VR headset to kill people.
00:16:44
Speaker
Crazy, crazy out of context. just Crazy out of context context clip there. Yes, absolutely. um Then we got our second ah remake that they announced legacy of Kane, Soul Reaver one and two remastered. That comes out December 10th. I I I think you guys played the the original one of this one at all. Or is this like, a oh, I did not know that this was a thing like I did. I don't know. I don't think of that I knew it was a thing. Yeah.
00:17:14
Speaker
There we got a trailer a small trailer for fear of the spotlight. This is one of the new games coming from bloom house That releases October 22nd in time for spooky season still towers of Agassa which releases November um Lego fortnight then said hey, we're adding split-screen and couch co-op which I'm like, oh oh, okay. Cool. Thanks for night All the fortnight players are losing their mind right now Yeah, um all of all of the, ah for for many reasons as well, which we'll get into later. Dynasty Warriors Origins dropped a new trailer and the release date for January 17th next year. And then the big thing, Monster Hunter, well, one of the big things people are going crazy for this, Monster Hunter Wilds releases February 28th, 2025, which means that Yuck, the like a dragon,
00:18:07
Speaker
ah Yeah. Pirate Yakuza game that comes out next year will be sharing a release date with it, which is really funny. I mean, I'll be playing pirate Yakuza because what a big day it is. It is a big day. It is going to be a huge day for gaming next February 28th.
00:18:24
Speaker
um We then got another trailer for Lego Horizon Adventures, and we finally got a release date for it for November 14th. And then the Horizon Zero Dawn remastered game, which we talked about last episode of the ESRB had accidentally leaked it, and now mom mean PlayStation's now confirmed it comes out Halloween. It's a $10 upgrade if you own the PS4 version, and but it also begs the question, does a seven-year-old game really need a remaster like this?
00:18:51
Speaker
Mmm, it feels too soon for me. But yeah, I because I mean with it being so soon Like maybe like I feel like 10 years like if you give it at least 10 years and maybe it would feel better But I mean like I'm getting older man that like seven years is nothing that doesn't feel like that much time It feels like this game just came out. So I Yeah, and also with like the new generations of consoles, I feel like the difference isn't that staggering. um Like maybe two generations or like at least to leave a generation gap before a remaster, you know, it's kind of how I feel. Yeah, we're like if for ps6, sure. Also show on ps5. Isn't Horizon Zero Dawn like on PC already or no? Yeah, yes, it is I think it was a getting the PC was a recent thing Okay, but the then the scummy thing happened and they've essentially raised the price of the original Horizon Zero Dawn
00:19:49
Speaker
because of this oh well that is super lame yeah it like it was like immediate and an immediate thing too as well so that happened and it's just another reason why i don't care for the horizon franchise i give it a try did not like it oh interesting not i haven't played it at all but i Found it boring. I just I couldn't get past the tutorial area like really yeah like I did a good chunk of it and It was like just as you're allowed to leave the tutorial area and then get like to be open. Well. I'm just like yeah. No. I'm good
00:20:22
Speaker
Dude, I felt the same exact way, actually. I'm glad I'm not alone on that, because like it seemed like it was so successful. But like it's one of those things where it was a little boring to me. I just wasn't super engaged. And then like it was also one of those things where there were so many things to do, and I just didn't care about any of them. Yeah, yeah, yeah i same done. Then the last three things they showed off stellar blade is collabing with near automata for a new game DLC, I'm assuming. So that means for all you near heads out there, now you got to add another game to play to get the full story of near automata. It's just so so funny, because if you ever want the full story of that, you have to play like a good sizable chunk of Final Fantasy 14 as well.
00:21:09
Speaker
Oh, really? Wow. Yeah. You got to play all the way to the end of Shadowbringers because the Alliance Raids series is in collaboration with your automata. Wow. Yeah. Interesting. me What an interesting way to market games to people by gatekeeping the story in other games. Yeah, right. If you really like. How do you be? It's only near that's ever like this. It's like, oh, yeah, you ever want the full near experience play this game, this game, this game? It's like all the near games. And then you're going to play for the popular MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 all the way to Shadowbringers. Wow. Yeah. That's a stellar blade getting added on to that.
00:21:50
Speaker
Stellar blade is a game. I do want to try it is actually one of the few games that like I'm like Oh, I kind of do want a ps5 to play this but Hoping that it eventually gets a PC port like in a year or something. Yeah um Then the last of us part one is coming to ps plus they also showed off the October games the ps plus I'm just gonna say this that it's it's whatever like I think we're getting like a wrestling game and That space the remastered dead space I think So that's what's coming to ps plus and then the last game to end it with a bang which it did ghost of Yotei coming next year the sequel to ghost of Tsushima, which If you're going if we're going off of how ghost of Tsushima played this game is gonna be fantastic This game is gonna be incredible when it comes out, but the internet being the internet is
00:22:43
Speaker
for reasons, I don't know. We're like, Oh, you play as a woman. you and ever And it's just like, Oh my God, really? Who cares? This dude, it's just so crazy, man. It's just like you really see the the the worst parts of the internet when like something like this happens because they're all just chirping like, ah Well, you don't get to play as a man. Why not, man? like good i why would Why are you as a man playing as a woman? It's like, bro, come on. It's like, it's not that deep. She's going to be badass. I mean, like you the the trailer did a really good job at painting the new main character in like a light where like this is going to be a really cool and like strong character. And obviously with Ghost of Tsushima having the the the history that it does being just such a good
00:23:32
Speaker
well-known good game there's no way that this game isn't going to have like the same ah quality you know so it's just it's just baffling It really is. It really is. um And shout us to Erica. She has been handling this like a boss um because it's fucking I mean, I like I've I've liked her work with. ah Oh, God, I'm blanking game changers and all that stuff because I've seen all the clips on TikTok. I'm like, oh, yeah, this is going to be great. I'm ready. I'm just I'm a sucker punch can sucker punch me in the face to bring me to summer twenty twenty five sooner. I'm saying.
00:24:11
Speaker
um And that's our headline of the week. That was the PlayStation stay to play any final thoughts on that at all boys How yeah yeah how how did you guys rate it? I would agree that the state of play felt very mid. There was a couple of things in there that like, you know, I watched it and I was like, Oh, this seems like kind of interesting. Like I'm, I'm kind of interested in a lunar. I'm kind of interested in the the hell is us trailer looks kind of mildly interested. Interesting. Like I might check out more of that when more info comes out. Obviously the Sonic info was good.
00:24:43
Speaker
And then like Alan Wake 2 is good. um Fantasian, uh, Neo dimension seems pretty neat. Might check that out. But, and and of course ghost of Yota, but yeah, pretty mid overall. The rest of them, if I was like, yeah, I'm not that super interested in it. You know, definitely a redemption from their last state of play. Oh yeah, definitely.
00:25:05
Speaker
Yeah, this wasn't like a yeah like I wasn't bored, but I also there was nothing that I was like, oh, wow, I am buying a PS5 tomorrow. um But the one thing I'm the one thing I'm really excited about is Astro Bot DLC, because that tells me sort of like Sonic Frontiers, right, where they were like, we're going to spend a year developing and give you free DLC.
00:25:27
Speaker
That tells me that they're like, we recognize that this game did way better than like we thought it was going to. And we're excited for the future. So the point where like they are willing to go, you know, ah like literally free DLC, they could probably just sell it and people would buy it. But I love that it's free DLC and like, hey, you guys supported this game so much. We're going to keep supporting it as well.
00:25:49
Speaker
Yeah, but which is just awesome because ah it is essentially now Astro bot has now kind of become the I guess the modern mascot of PlayStation now Mm-hmm with this as well. Yeah, they definitely need to I mean they've already started to with like the beginning I think the beginning of well, I guess that was just a trailer for Astro bot But I was gonna say the beginning of it. They showed Astro bot like right away. I just play room when the PlayStation came It is basically how I what what when this game came out of I think I said that This game is if you consider Astros playroom Wii Sports Astro bot Wii Sports Resort is basically that this is the Wii Sports Resort of PlayStation Yeah, that makes sense I think that I do they definitely need to play into it more though because I think Astro bot is just really cute The game is really good. They just got to really put a lot of effort into making sure that they keep that
00:26:40
Speaker
that franchise in a good spot for sure yeah definitely okay well with that there's a lot more for us to cover that happened within these past two weeks so let's just dial on in to the week in review recapping the major stories of video games and the world of tabletop looking over recent releases and reports from the game lounge crew it's the week in review Starting off, some of the major games that came out in these past two weeks. You had Epic Mickey Rebrushed, which I'm currently playing through, and it's great. um The Legend of zek Zelda Echoes of Wisdom released, EA Sports FC25, Master Detective Archives Rain Code Plus, making it no longer a Switch exclusive, the SpongeBob SquarePants Patrick Star Game, and Until Dawn for PlayStation 5 and PC.
00:27:31
Speaker
And at the time of recording this, ah the Patrick Star game actually hasn't come out yet, but I will be playing that on... um Ideally unreleased as well, which means more games for Tony on his plate. Yeah More games for Tony to complete. Yeah, basically a cent Essentially all all these new games plus me trying to land super hard tricks and Tony Hawk pro skater. Yep. That's my life right now hu Moving on to the video game news kicking it off the Sonic Central that happened on September 24th as well ah showed us more Sonic
00:28:07
Speaker
Yay, Sonic the Hedgehog, woo! Sonic, oh my god! Oh my god, he's blue, he's fast, and he's in Roblox more, yay! Kicking it off, they showed off ah some mobile game updates, starting with Sonic Rumble, which is coming out this winter to mobile and PC, so you'll be able to play this on Steam or Epic, whichever the two they go with, probably Steam, because...
00:28:30
Speaker
Realistically, it'll be steam And this is gonna be a battle roy al slash. It's like a fault like a fall guys, but it's all guys Let's be real. It's all guys, but there's sonic cosmetics and you know what that's enough for me. I'll play a true but Yeah, we'll we'll probably end up calling it Sonic Rumble, guys, um because that's what it will be. um Then they gave us some updates for Sonic Dash, Dash Plus, and Forces Mobile. So here are the next three characters, Valhalla Surge, who I've never even heard of, Surge, before this Sonic Central Showcase.
00:29:05
Speaker
More Deep Cut for sure. Yeah, Oni Mephiles and Warrior Shadow and also Dolce Amy as well will be released to those bubble games down the line. ah Shadow is getting added to Sonic Dream Team for the Apple Arcade.
00:29:20
Speaker
So now you have another if you have Apple Arcade, you can now play a shadow. Well, Apple Arcade, who the fuck uses this? ah no ah Sonic Racing, which I didn't even know there was a Sonic Racing mobile game, is adding a time trial mode, Rockstar Rouge, DJ Vector and Popstar Amy.
00:29:41
Speaker
On the YouTube side of things, they're creating chow tales, an e eight episode animated series. I'll start streaming soon, which I think is really cut cute, really cool. Nice interactions of the chow again, which is just I think that's great to see. People like chow. Yeah, a drowning chow is a happy chow. Just remember that. Well, hey, words from the trader one himself.
00:30:09
Speaker
Okay, we can't trust his opinion on shallow Yeah, I mean trader's also a fish. So I think he's pretty biased to the water yeah You know what fair uh Neo metal sonic is coming to sonic speed simulator and roblox as the first boss battle of the game So if you have been playing that but so I think emerald you have a reason to play roblox again Dude, I guess so. But you know what's crazy is like, okay, I don't really play Roblox very much. I generally will only try it whenever something like, well, like I played it originally when the speed Sonic speed simulator came out, but there are people that apparently just go Ryan this game, dude. Like even like people, there's people in my chat that are like, Oh yeah, I played all the time. And I'm like, what? They're like, Oh yeah, it's just the perfect time kill game and it's Sonic. So it makes my brain happy. And it's like, Oh, well, I mean, I guess there really is an audience out there for this game and they're.
00:31:02
Speaker
I'm sure they're popping off for Neo Metal Sonic. Yeah. I mean, this is kind of like ah oddly a year from Neo Metal in a way, too. Oddly enough with how much representation he's been getting. ah Then we got ah Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble updates. They're adding a shadow costume to the monkeys.
00:31:23
Speaker
I found out about this from a meme because I didn't get to watch some of the central when it was coming out. And I just saw the AI in the shadow skin and it just says the little taglines around him like ultimate life form, fearless, the coolest, and he's just stunting on them with with his goofy little smile. It's so cute.
00:31:46
Speaker
It's funny. It's also they're also adding to new free free ball skins um Cosmetics for the monkey balls themselves um Then two-point museum which is kind of the first we've actually heard of two-point museum the next game in the two-point series ah Which if you haven't played up, they're actually pretty solid um tycoon games ah they are They are adding a much bigger Sonic pre-order with this one compared to Two Point Campus. A Sonic and Shadow pre-order bonuses. The game comes out March 4th next year, but they're essentially adding Sonic Shadow costumes, a whole interactable gift shop like things that you can, like gift shop merch that you can put in your museum where people can buy Sonic and Shadow plushies, and a couple other Sonic Shadow things as well.
00:32:33
Speaker
um So I'm probably gonna pre-order that because I like two-point Academy. I'm probably gonna play two-point museum and Being able to sell Sonic at a museum. Hell. Yeah, I'm all for that There we go into our Lego Sonic segments where they had a nice funny video of Lego Sonic Forgetting that this was supposed to happen calling Lego shadow. He's fighting the Lego bio lizard and egg bands Like oh he beat it fuck ah Then they revealed all the sets coming and all a lot more merch coming as well. um We've got a LEGO Shadow Escape set, the Knuckles Guardian Mech set, the Tails Adventure Boat set, the Master Emerald Shrine, Super Sonic vs. the Egg Drillster, and possibly because it wasn't confirmed whether or not it was real or just for that, possibly the Bio-Lizard LEGO set as well. But that one wasn't confirmed nor denied.
00:33:28
Speaker
Yeah, these Lego sets are really cool. The only downside is that Legos are always just pretty expensive. But dude, i I saw a video apparently where people like buy Lego sets and they like that it's their job. They like buy Lego sets, hold on to them for a certain amount of time, wait until they go up in price and then they resell them and they just profit, dude, because like the the people buying Legos are just that crazy. And some Lego sets are that expensive to where they can make like massive profit ah profit off of it. It's insane.
00:33:56
Speaker
and But I will be definitely looking out for the Bio-Lizard set. if they If they announced a prize for that and it's not too crazy, I definitely want it. Yeah, Master Emerald Shrine sounds really cool. i was I was like, honestly, I was like rethinking, maybe I should get that one. Sounds cool. Dude, I have the Green Hill Sonic one. it's It's pretty cool. I got it as a gift. I didn't buy it myself, but it was it was fun to make and I mean, it's it's pretty good quality, you know? So I expect good things from these ones too.
00:34:23
Speaker
and you'll be able to stream it now on the brand new Twitch category, LEGO. Because they finally- Wait, did they add LEGO? They finally did. LEGO and miniature buildings have now been added as categories. Wait, that's cool. I might have to do that.
00:34:36
Speaker
um As for regular merch that they showed off a six inch shadow figurine from Jack specific a PvP wireless controllers Which are coming out in October these have little they go mini Sonic Miggie figures inside the controller and they are official as well ah Shadow evolved statue or shot Sonic X shadow an HGC helmet with shadow the hedgehog decal The palverse pale shadow the hedgehog figurine ah Sonic is collabing with Louis de Guzman as well for an art exhibit. And then, if you go to Topgolf, Sonic the Hedgehog is collaborating with Topgolf for you to play some Sonic minigames when you fire off ah your drives.
00:35:20
Speaker
Your top golf is fun. Don and I actually went from like really recently at at games done quick. And yeah, it was it was a good time. We played like one of the random mini games there. If we had the Sonic one, we would have been popping off. I know. I i think there's a there's going to be Sonic Expo here in a couple of months. And I think they have a top golf in Dallas. So I'm like, we might have to go. We might have to go. If you guys go, if you guys go, let us know how it is. We're definitely.
00:35:48
Speaker
Also, I should ask how good is your guys's driving driving game? Oh off that's pretty bad or i have That was the first time I ever tried to like actually golf it's not mini golf, you know, yeah I've been golfing not great. I've been golfing before um And I've had fun obviously like I'm not great because I've only been like a few times um and when we were doing top golf I was like Really bad at the start, but near the end I was I was kind of crushing a couple I was like I had a couple good swings near the end But honestly it it took like most of the session to get there so nice ah Sonic then they they announced that when we saw that Batman shadow ah thing video on Twitter They they know officially that was like Sonic DC comics are coming out in 2025 where Sonic and the Justice League are gonna collaborate and
00:36:39
Speaker
you know Crazy that was such a crazy announcement because like yeah I really thought that that was just a one-off video that was gonna be on Twitter um And then they were like, oh no, we're gonna release like an issue like it's like I think they said 10 issues I think something like that. Yeah, it was like a decent amount and I was like, whoa And then they were like, I think they said that they were gonna extend it to Well, they were going to do it for like a year and then they were like, yeah oh, yeah, but it's not going to do. It's not going to be just that year. We're also going to extend it to the to the following or something. Yeah, to 2026. I was like, man, they must have a lot of really big plans for that if it's going to be that long.
00:37:14
Speaker
Yeah, cool. It's pretty cool. ah Then we got officially the new trailer for Sonic X Shadow Generations, um which we'll be talking about later on in the podcast when we actually do our big deep dive within the game. That's yet to come out. ah Then Dark Beginnings giving us the release schedule for the three episodic series. Episode one and two at the time you are listening to this episode are out right now and episode three drops on the 10th.
00:37:43
Speaker
um Which I mean I like the fact that emerald is back in This in a sense is like oh shit. What the fuck. He's fighting shadow is either reason Maria's really dead. What's going on? um Which is just super cool. Ah, yeah they also showed off a brand new pre-order piece that you can get as part like, aside from the big pre-order bonus that you could get for this game with the physical extravaganza, Gerald Robotnik's journal and the way that they advertise this with it being like a fucking infomercial was absolutely hilarious.
00:38:18
Speaker
ah And then the show ended off with some messages from the movie casting crew and potentially teasing that chow might be in the movie by having ah some people in some chow costumes dance in the background as the camera was fading out. And that was the Sonic Central 2024. Overall a solid show, I would say.
00:38:44
Speaker
Yeah, I thought it was. I mean, obviously, like, well, see, I mean, I liked hearing about Sonic Rumble because, like, I think that'll be fun. Maybe not for like a long, super long term thing, but a thing to like mess around with. Yes, it'll probably be a nice free hopefully free you to play. Oh, yeah. Time killer.
00:39:03
Speaker
yeah exactly it's not like a game that i'll probably put that much time into but it'll be like a fun like maybe like i play it for like a few streams or something like that and try to like level up and i don't know maybe it'll it maybe it'll really grip me who knows but like the real big thing is more shadow shadow gen stuff Um, which like, like you said, we'll talk about later, but I think like those are really the two main things for me where I was like, Oh yeah, this is, this is what I'm here for. And people were kind of like coping and they were like, Oh, well they're going to show off like maybe a new Sonic game. And it's like, bro, no, they're not. They haven't even released shadow gens yet. Like that's not. Yeah.
00:39:36
Speaker
We still got a bit of time before they're going to show us anything new. They want us to buy Sonic X Shadow Generations. So yeah, I remember going to your stream the day before and everybody was talking about all the things they want. And I'm like, guys, like they have a game coming out in like a month. There's no way. There is no way they're showing anything new.
00:39:53
Speaker
Yeah, it's like if they're going to show anything, it's going to be for the movie. But even then, they're they're still not advertising the movie much for the game. So yeah. And that is such a big bet for them. So if they're going to put that off, like, you know, that they're also putting a lot into this game, too. Yeah, they definitely are. they They're cooking up something with shadow. That's for damn sure.
00:40:18
Speaker
ah We then get into the Tokyo Game Show. The big thing was Xbox actually held a nice presentation at the Tokyo Game Show. And here's everything that was shown off. A new trailer for Metal Gear Solid Delta Snake Eater was shown off. Still no release date for the game though. Overwatch is collaborating with my hero Academia Skids. Those come out October 17th and Tracer is Deku.
00:40:43
Speaker
Dude, I thought it was a meme. I really thought it was a meme, but I was like, cause I saw it on Twitter first and then I was like, wait, no, this is actually way too high quality for it to be like fake. Yeah, it's real. Uh, and, uh, I saw a meme today of the I'm already tracer, uh, song thing. And it's, it's a Raka and Deku. And she's like, I'll, I'll, maybe I'll be tracer. It's Zuko. I'm already tracer. goes to the Shows the costumes. I'm like, Oh, that's kind of funny. That's a good use. of Yeah.
00:41:13
Speaker
ah ah Age of mythal Mythology retold, The Immortal Pillars DLC was shown off. i know i knew Some new footage for Indiana Jones of the Great Circle that comes out December 9th for Xbox and PC. Then we got probably the coolest game that they showed off that's coming out relatively soon. I actually don't think they gave us a release date for it. Tanuki Pawns Summer. This is a game where you play as a Tanuki and you deliver mail and you just enjoy the summer in this quaint Japanese village.
00:41:43
Speaker
This looks absolutely crazy. You can grind on the rails of your BMX bike while delivering mail as a Tanuki. What more do you want? Wait, I, okay, I didn't even get to catch this, this presentation, but this sounds amazing. This absolutely looks, this looks like a nice cozy game with some funny elements to it. This, I am absolutely going to pick this up when it comes out. We then got a trailer for Threads of Time, a new RPG coming out. We Love Katamari Reroll and Royal Reverie are now out on Xbox.
00:42:13
Speaker
We got more information from Fragpunk, which is that 5v5 hero shooter for cards determining your powers, and it's always like random and whatnot. They have a closed beta starting October 10th. They also showed off two new characters, Sonar and Spider. um We then got a new gameplay trailer for Metaphor Re-Fantasio. The prologue demo is out now. The game comes out October 11th.
00:42:37
Speaker
Atelier Yumia, we got a whole overview for this game. This was also a game that was shown off in the Nintendo Direct before, but we actually got more details from this. This is the first time the Atelier series is on Xbox. It comes out March 21st, 2025. It looks pretty cool if you're into RPGs and alchemy. This is a game for you.
00:42:55
Speaker
We then got a trailer for a Surajang Rumble, a top-down Battle Royale coming out. Bleach, Rebirth of Souls got an official trailer now. Comes out early 2025. Sin Duality, Echo of Ada comes out January 24th. Sweet Coated, 1 in 2, HD Remaster got a bit more details and it comes out March 6th next year. Fallout 76 is adding camp pets at the end of the year, which is neat.
00:43:20
Speaker
ah All you need is help. This is a yarn block puzzle co-op game that you can play right now. ah Slitterhead, we got more details on the possession system that is using and pre-orders for the game are now live. ah For those who need a reminder, this is the game from the original director of the Silent Hill games.
00:43:39
Speaker
um So if you like that shit, games for you. We then got a trailer for the Star Bites and Adventure RPG coming out. More details on Dragon Quest 3 HD 2D Remake and a gameplay overview coming out November 14th. They also showed off the new Monster Arenas where using the Monster Wrangler class to capture monsters, you can go fight them in this arena like Pokemon.
00:44:03
Speaker
And lastly, the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster and Trials and Legend of Mana are now all available on Xbox Game Pass. Or on Xbox in general. And that was everything shown off at the Xbox show. Which was pretty good. It was... I would say it was about the same as the PlayStation. It was very middle of the road show. Some cool things, some blah things overall. But solid show nonetheless.
00:44:33
Speaker
And that's about it for actual big lists like that. We now get into the rest of the normal headlines. It's starting off... league of legends worlds twenty twenty four have revealed their official thieve song and it's lincoln park heavy is the crown in my god this goes absolutely hard Oh, man, i I have a lot of thoughts about this one. ah First off, obviously, there's the whole thing with Linkin Park comeback. I don't really know how I feel about it. Probably don't want to get too deep into that here, but ah that is a thing. But I will say this song, this music video, regardless of what you think about the band's comeback, goes so hard. It's amazing. it um It's so good.
00:45:14
Speaker
I was just watching um because i'm ah i'm I used to play on League teams and stuff back in the day, amateur teams. and so i'm I'm huge into Worlds and I was watching a ah podcast of all all of these X-Pro players and stuff talking about Worlds. and They opened it up and they immediately started talking for five minutes about how cool the music video was. I was like, that's not what I clicked on this for, but sure, I'm with it.
00:45:40
Speaker
Um, the end when Faker comes out of the castle, like the concept of the music video, right? Is that all of these people, the top teams from each region are like fighting as their champions and stuff as the songs playing. And at the end, Faker comes out of the castle and it's just such an amazing moment. It's like, okay, you're all fighting, but don't forget I'm here. Like I run this town, dude. It's so cool. Nice God, I love it.
00:46:08
Speaker
yeah i'm just You know what? I'm just a big Linkin Park fan. I'm just glad that we're getting new Linkin Park music. like That's true. that's That's my take on everything. and It's cool that they got for the League of Legends thing because League of Legends, you know what? I may not be a fan of the game. They know how to pick good music for Worlds.
00:46:27
Speaker
Yeah, they they really make great content around the game, even if you hate the game itself. Yeah. Arcane, incredible. Every time they do world songs or any of the events, they do some really amazing stuff. So even if you don't like the game or the esport, like, definitely check it out. It's it's super worth the time.
00:46:45
Speaker
ah And then on the other side of League of Legends, SAG-Astra is adding League as a struck game, meeting union voice actors currently working on the game Must Stop. SAG-Astra is also filing an unfair labor practice charge against sound company Formosa Interactive over what it alleged was an attempt to circumvent the ongoing strike.
00:47:05
Speaker
Whoa, I did not hear about this. That's crazy. Yeah. haven fored i Yeah, the whole the video game voice acting strike is still going on and we will be continuing to cover it as more updates for it come out. ah In the layman news, Assassin's Creed Shadow has been delayed to February 14th, twenty twenty five, which is interesting to see. But honestly, I'm kind of glad that it's getting delayed because it's better to delay a game and put out ah something not good. Is this the first time an Assassin's Creed game has been delayed? and I think it is because I'm pretty sure it is that. I don't know how I feel about that, then, because I do agree that, ah you know, if the game's not ready, don't release it. But the fact that I don't think that they have ever delayed a game yeah is a little bit scary. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And it goes to show because when you look at unity, when it released, it could have used the delayment, I think. Oh, absolutely. Yeah. So I think maybe Ubisoft has finally learned.
00:48:04
Speaker
I hope so. I mean, so i'm great I'm glad that you brought up that game. Assassin's Creed Unity was the first time I bought an Assassin's Creed game because I played all of the games leading up to it. Oh, okay. ah Yeah, I played all the games leading up to it, but not the first one ever, but it was the first time I bought it and I was like, wow, this game is really not good. And it like definitely steered me away from wanting to buy the rest of the releases. And if I'm being honest, I have not, I bought Uh, I think was Assassin's Creed origins like on a sale one time I still haven't played it But I i've like not bought like any of the newer Assassin's Creed since like that game put that part of a taste the taste in my mouth onwards Yeah Yeah, so syndicate onwards. I haven't played
00:48:46
Speaker
It's weird, because when you think about the story of Unity is that it's kind of a similar Sonic story between 06 and Secret Rings, where the team got divided ah and it's like, oh, yeah, while we work on that, um the other half will work on, what was it, Rogue? Assassin's Creed Rogue. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. I remember Rogue. Yeah. The game that came out at the exact same time before the prior console generation.
00:49:15
Speaker
Yeah, that was such a weird one. It it really was. Uh, Starcraft remastered and Starcraft 2 are coming to games past November 5th, which is great for all you RTS fans out there. Stardew Valley 1.6 is finally coming to console and mobile devices this November. And a mod was released for God of War on PC to bypass needing a PlayStation Network account to play. It was taken down about three days later because of how popular it got, and the creator feared that PlayStation would come after them.
00:49:45
Speaker
so Also, in modding news, Democratic Vice President candidate Tim Walz has been modded into Crazy Taxi thanks to his love of the Dreamcast. That's amazing. Yeah, I remember seeing that news that he was talking about the Dreamcast, and I was like, man, this guy had to play Sonic Adventure, right? I feel like he had to. There's no way he hasn't.
00:50:12
Speaker
And you know what, if I am, if I Tony game lounge ever get the chance to interview Democratic vice president candidate or potential future, depending on how the election goes, I would love to ask him, what were your thoughts of Sonic Adventure? And that's how I would open that interview. Absolutely. I mean, hey, that's the best way to do it. Good. Good. ah What's the word? Icebreaker, you know?
00:50:38
Speaker
Yeah, no, it absolutely is. ah Tomb Raider The Legend of Lara Croft received a brand new trailer and it will be arriving October 10th on Netflix and HBO's The Last of Us Season 2 released its first official trailer and it looks like it's going to take place between the events of the first two games.
00:50:56
Speaker
of timeline wise of where it will take place. And my theory is that it's either the season might end with the starting scene of the second game. Oh, yeah, that makes a lot more than that, because I know that there are people who have just exclusively watched the show who had no clue about it prior to and love it. And who i the second because we know it's going to happen.
00:51:20
Speaker
We know gamers all around the world know it's going to happen. And I think we're just waiting for the people who have no idea about it to be like, oh, I'm just waiting for that. and Yeah, I'm just going to see social media explode when the rest of the world finds out about it. We know what's coming. This is the second bomb.
00:51:44
Speaker
ah A study conducted by the University of Oxford in collaboration with Future Labs and Powerwash Simulator has found that 72% of players were likely to experience an uplifted mood during play sessions. The report, which was published in the Games Research and Practice Journal, analyzed data from 8,695 players from 39 countries, including the US, UK, Canada, and Germany.
00:52:10
Speaker
Research said the findings will aid in understanding how the short-term effect of playing video games can be beneficial for mood related Interventions and they also support the ability to build a theoretical foundation for the long-term effects of gaming sessions that can They can have a mental health So that was an article that I was not expecting to read this week but I'm like that's kind of interesting and kind of funny at the same time because it's like of all the games to choose it was power watch them and Yeah, I feel like that's a good one for a boosted mood. Honestly, it's like i so satisfying. It's so satisfying, but it's also like, I don't know. I do unfortunately think about these games as like, I understand the appeal because it does feel like very satisfying to like work through the tasks kind of like it is in like any game that kind of like has task tasks like farm sims and like stuff like that. But I specifically like powerwash sim, it feels like it's like
00:53:03
Speaker
All right, bro, you're really going to work your like nine to five. Come home and be like, let me hop on Powerwash Simulator. You know, like airal you can clean Shrek's swamp or SpongeBob Squarepants. I guess I guess it is a beautiful escape for the Final Fantasy 7 bar from Final Fantasy 7 remake for Lara Croft's entire mansion.
00:53:28
Speaker
I mean, I guess that's cool. I just there's other games you should play. Man, go play. I don't know. Go play a Shrek video game or something. I mean, Shrek 2 is kind of fire. True. I actually used to love that game, but.
00:53:43
Speaker
I just, I don't know. I feel like there's better things you could replace it with, but I do understand the sentiment too of it being a game where you can shut off your brain. It is very simple to like complete the task and you feel like you're working towards a goal, even it ah when you're like kind of head empty progressing, you know? So.
00:53:59
Speaker
Yeah, man, I know people who work service jobs and come home to clock in for trucking simulator and raw dog it, you know. No, that's. I've known people to do that, bro. It happens. They just do it to feel like they can drink and drive or something. I don't know. I would be after work. Hell, yeah. That's that's that's every game machine right there.
00:54:23
Speaker
uh capcom put out that's right ace attorney tv as an overview for the series uh which released during the katokyo game show when they originally posted it on twitter people started thinking oh my god they're about to really announce a new ace attorney and had to post a tweet afterwards saying hey we're not announcing anything new with this sorry um wow It's a nice it's a cool little animatic though with Phoenix and Edgeworth and they also talked about Ghost Trick Detective as well in this presentation um Because it's similar in a sense, but it's like oh I wasn't expecting that to be in the Ace Attorney Showcase, but okay
00:55:03
Speaker
Death Stranding 2 released 20 minutes of brand new footage among trailers, ah new cast reveals and more from a special stage show held at a Tokyo game show. um They showed off the brand new photo mode and they revealed that Elle Fanning ah is now a part of the cast as well as a bunch of others.
00:55:21
Speaker
ah During Minecraft Live's new livestream, Mojang revealed the next update to the game. The first of a new, more regular update that's smaller in scale, ah the Pale Garden Biome and its brand new mob, The Creaking, are set to go live in the next few months, while players will find them in snapshots, betas, and previews very soon.
00:55:44
Speaker
um With more Monster Hunter news, Monster Hunter is collaborating with Digimon and releasing some Monster Hunter across Digimon Digivice Pets, which is super fucking cool.
00:55:58
Speaker
um Because I believe the Monster Hunter bought it's like if Digimon and Monster Hunter fused together Because it looks like I saw like some Garurumon designs, but it's like if Garurumon was in Monster Hunter I'm like oh, that's just sick. That's neat. Yeah, so those are cool. Those are coming out I think they're Japan exclusive, so you'll have to order overseas shipping and whatnot to get up here, but still cool ah In probably the most recent Twitch L take, ah Twitch removed the global emote Bible Thump because they didn't want to pay Edmond McMullen for a renewal on the licensing for it. So they replaced it with new emote Big Sad.
00:56:41
Speaker
And then FFZ with the permission from Macmillan added Bible Thubbed as a global emote for FFZ. Let's go. So I thought we still have it. It's crazy that Twitch didn't want to pay them. Yeah. Yeah. It is like a very iconic emote. It's been around since basically since I've been on Twitch and my account was made at the end of 2013. So very long time forever. Very long time. Very OG.
00:57:10
Speaker
um Islands of Insight, a puzzle game, will be closing its servers next month and permanently modifying the game to be offline only, so that way it can continue to live on offline and you don't have to be online to play it. Which, why a puzzle game was like that in the first place, I don't know. Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada has revealed in an interview that he was in talks with Kentucky Fried Chicken to bring the Colonel to Tekken.
00:57:37
Speaker
But KFC was just like, what? And said no. Oh, man, that is such an L for KFC. It really is. It honestly is. I would have had a finger lickin' good time if the Colonel was a Tekken. I'm just saying I would have definitely thought about buying the game more.
00:57:55
Speaker
ah True, same, honestly. On God. ah The makers of the Nintendo Switch emulator Ryujinx have pulled the open source project offline after being contacted by Nintendo as one of its developers announced that on Discord. ah So support for that, gone. And lastly, Merriam-Webster's dictionary has added 200 new words and phrases to it, including dungeon crawler and touch grass.

Amazing so now that those are touching touch grass is now in the dictionary officially um Thank You Miriam Webster for this blessed moment Really keep your ear to the ground they are the literally yeah touching grass with their ear preps ah perhaps in the world of live service game news starting off with Final Fantasy 14 during the Tokyo game show live letter from the producer happened and they announced so much for 7.1 crossroads which will come out mid November 2024
00:59:02
Speaker
Starting off, the brand new MSQ dungeon Yueyata Field Station. The new EX trial, the Mistral's Ballad feeds Burden. The next unreal trial they revealed is going to be the Jade Stella, Sobiyako EX, just beveled maxed currently.
00:59:19
Speaker
The new Alliance Raid for Echoes of Vanadil. This is the Final Fantasy XIV, Final Fantasy XI collaboration. um They showed off a little bit of part one, Juno the First Walk. The new Ultimate Raid, Futures Rewritten, the Eden Raid series, will be coming a few two weeks after the 7.1 launch.
00:59:40
Speaker
We're getting the Pei Lu Pei Lu Society Quests, which are going to be for combat jobs. The new custom delivery is going to be for Rito Weekway in Shaloni, which is the train people. So we're going to help them build another train, probably. But this time we won't have to listen to a smile while they build a train.
00:59:56
Speaker
Cuz we all know that meme happened it it happened I get it ah the cops student watch you Mechie Mechie and capstone of roll quests will be added Inconceivably further Hilda brand adventures. He's back He's landed into the olol and we gotta stop nashu from blowing up the whole city and committing war crimes It's great. This is what we love about Hilda brand um They're also adding New Game Plus support for all the 7.0 stuff. And also, oddly enough, Domen Majong is getting an update, adding voice reactions from the scions of the 7th Dawn and a couple other characters. You can purchase those at the Gold Saucer 4 MGP.
01:00:36
Speaker
And then chaotic alliance raids were announced. This is essentially a 24 man savage content. The first one is Cloud of Darkness from the Crystal Tower series. It's going to just be the one fight and not like a whole alliance raid that you have to get through. Thank God. And depending on the feedback of this, we'll determine the future of Chaotix going forward. And I just going to say, ah go watch Mr. Happy's video because he said, oh, this is going to be absolutely chaotic because of what mechanics were shown off in the pictures.
01:01:05
Speaker
um PVP updates that are coming. Hit and detection changes. The damages are going to start coming after the animation plays. So that way you don't just instantly die you that you see the samurai charge at you from a mile away. New actions are coming for all jobs aside from Viper and Pictomancer. They're doing some balance adjustments for frontline and rival wings.
01:01:26
Speaker
And there's going to be more info on all of that stuff in the next live letter. Duty Support is going to start coming to the non-MSQ dungeons with Holotali being the first one to come in 7.1. We're getting a new Hall of the Novice training at level 49 to learn specific combat mechanics for all the Sprouts out there. And they're also talking about adding rotation training in potential future updates.
01:01:51
Speaker
And then with real estate in the game, ah players will be able to change the interior design of their estate regardless of what their area that they bought their house in is. So if you have a house in the lavender beds, you could have the interior of the Ishgard 1 or um Shiroganes, and there's also gonna be some exclusive some new interiors that aren't like in any of the housing areas added to that collection as well. And you'll also be able to, for a large amount of gill most likely, change the interior size of your house regardless of what size plot it is. So if you have a small plot, you could have a large interior if you probably pay like 40 million gill or something like that.
01:02:36
Speaker
um They also announced the Dawnshell soundtrack will be available October 30th in Japan and November for North America Europe. It will be included with it is the wind up zero minion code and the primal September 21st concert will be made available to watch if via steam pass stream pass and fan stream services. And lastly with SF14 because this is just a wild thing. Moo dang! That viral baby hippo that ah that's gone viral on the social medias. That's really super cute.
01:03:04
Speaker
Well, they've caused the hippo minion mount the hippo minion in the game to go from like a couple hundred Thousand to like I think it might have been like out of million at most. It's a 44 plus million Gil That's just smart that's just smart, you know, they they're capitalizing and honestly I would be If I played Final Fantasy 14, I would definitely think about it. I definitely spend that much I don't care I I'll do what I have to. And that was everything that happened into in the FF14 world. um And the question to both of you guys, so ah how much of that went over your head?
01:03:42
Speaker
ah mostly all of it not moodangg though but I knew that one Excellent In Battle Royale news epic games released two new parental control features time limits and time reports So now parents can monitor and limit how much time their kids spend in Fortnite Evil, diabolical. Yeah, that's terrible. Kids will find a way to sneak around itself, surely. True. Yeah, probably. In Hoyaverse news, a California court has ordered X to reveal the identities of four Genshin Impact leakers to publish their cognosphere, saying the company's concerns about First Amendment projections are unwarranted. X tried to push back, but the judge said the leaf Genshin Impact material is not, quote, core First Amendment expression.
01:04:36
Speaker
So ah don't leak Genshin Impact stuff, kids, or else they're going to come after you and your First Amendment rights won't matter because they're not that important enough for the this judge, at at least.
01:04:50
Speaker
ah And in Destiny 2 news, Destiny 2 is adding new maps and factions to its onslaught game mode next week. Three new maps, Widow's Count was just shown during their livestream, two new enemy factions, the Vex and Shadow Legion Gamal, and defensive upgrades, a turret which can be upgraded to fire scorching ground level pro- prorelevan rock will that will proc relevant solar based perks to your build, improved trip wires that trigger stasis solar effects, and an airstrike that enables you to place an orbital laser beam on your enemies. That can also be upgraded, but Bungie wasn't saying what the final form will look like.
01:05:25
Speaker
And that's it for live service games moving on to the world of TCG Pokemon searching sparks releases November 8th and Pokemon TCG pocket is out now in New Zealand And it's just available for pre registration everywhere else ah with I think you're doing like stag netted releases so it might so check out the month because it might release in your region sooner than the 30th and But um from what I think, I think North America, it releases area. We've still got a bit of time to wait. But if you can't wait, just create a New Zealand Apple or Google account and download the game with a VPN and because that's what people are doing already.
01:06:07
Speaker
You got to get your fix. I mean, you got to get your fix. Honest to God. Like the only fix I have right now is that TCG card shop simulator. That's holding me. Oh, yeah. I've seen that. I've seen that a lot of people, ah a lot of streamers have been playing it.
01:06:23
Speaker
It's a fun game. It's definitely, it's like, he landed at like the perfect time to release of like, oh yeah, the, the supermarket simulators that happened this year. It's now like, it's it's got like that, but also the card opening that pocket is going to give us. So it's just like, it's the perfect hybrid. It came with like the perfect time. Yeah.
01:06:41
Speaker
um In Yu-Gi-Oh! Rage of the Abyss releases October 10th, the quarter century bonanza November 11th, Speed Duel, Battle City Finals November 22nd, Crossover Breakers December 5th, and Supreme Darkness on January 23rd. Imagine the Gathering, Duskborn House of Horror is out now, and Foundations releases November 15th, and in Lorkana, Azureite Sea releases November 29th. And lastly, in the tabletop news, Yahtzee has a brand new look with a one-piece edition of the dice game. Instead of a cup, you got Luffy's iconic straw hat and all the dice are the various straw hat members. It's out right now for $24 USD. Wait, I need that in my life. I didn't know I did, but I might have to buy that. And that is everything within the week in review. Any final thoughts on any of those stories, guys?
01:07:34
Speaker
ah one piece fire I need more one piece stuff in my life um I'm looking forward to the Pokemon TCG pocket I've been looking forward to that since they announced it but it's just because I used to have a ah problem with buying Pokemon cards and I don't buy them anymore but I would love to get a daily free pack that I can open and see if I get shiny holographic card You get two daily free packs emerald Don't tell me that even better. It's two daily free packs. It's a pack every 12 hours, essentially Man, i'm gonna be setting 12 hour alarms to open and if you decide to go the freemium route where you just get the monthly Subscription to it. It's every eight hours. You get oh, oh no Yeah, you're gonna wake up and instantly open a pack like a fiend Austin John plays released a video where all the details when he was at a private event for pocket ah He basically laid out every nearly everything for us um So if you need a fixing of what everything's gonna be like go check out that video um But I know that I'm going with the with the freemium route on this because III am literally gonna be that fiend Well, yeah, I was gonna say I was gonna say maybe like
01:08:49
Speaker
Every eight hours, dude, that sounds more effective than Pokemon sleep because it's about ten. I think it's ten bucks. You asked for the monthly subscription. Ten. I'll have to think about it, but if I'm playing it a lot, I don't mind it. Yeah, true.
01:09:07
Speaker
Yeah. um and that's So that's that's everything that happened within these past two weeks. And now it's time for me to go even crazier, because I'm about to list off a bunch of games coming out within the next two weeks. Here's what should be on your radar from October 7th to 18th. From AAA titles, indie hits, hidden gems, and hot pieces of garbage, here are the games coming out that should be on your radar.
01:09:30
Speaker
And oh boy, it's it's ah ah the the week in review was just ah the warm-up for for this. ah Here you go, no game releases on the 7th, but on the 8th, Diablo 4, The Vessel of Hatred DLC releases on everything but the Switch. And Silent Hill 2 releases for the PlayStation 5 and PC.
01:09:47
Speaker
No game releases on the 9th, but on the 10th, Amber Isle for the PC, Fantasy Life Eye, the girl who steals time, finally makes its way to the Switch, as Skyocean's Wings for Hire makes its way to the PC Switch, Series X and PS5. On the 11th, Dragon Ball, Sparking Zero comes to the PS5, Series X and PC,
01:10:13
Speaker
Starship Troopers Extermination for the PS5 Series X and PC, Transformers Galactic Trials for everything, and Undisputed for the PS5 Series X and PC. No releases on the 14th, but on the 15th, Just Dance 2025 for the PS5 Series X and Switch, Niva for the PS5 Series X Switch and PC,
01:10:33
Speaker
New World Aeternum. This is New World basically just with the new packaging. PS5, Series X, PC. Nothing on the 16th, but on the 17th, Age of Empires. Mobile for iOS and Android. A Quiet Place the Road Ahead for PS5, Series X, and PC. And Super Mario Party Jamboree for the Switch. And on the 18th, Retro Realms, Ash vs Evil Dead, and Retro Realms Halloween come out on everything, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Mutants Unleashed releases on everything, and Unknown Nine Awakening comes to everything but the Switch. And those are all the games. ah Some good games in there, honestly. There are are. Starting at the top, you have Silent Hill 2, the re remake of the classic um horror game that people are very excited for.
01:11:26
Speaker
I don't know much I just remember I watched when I was at TwitchCon last year I watched the Silent Hill 2 speedrun and it was really cool. and Yeah I haven't played those games but I'm mildly interested in in playing the the new one you know.
01:11:41
Speaker
ah The 11th, you got Sparking Zero. A lot of people super excited for Dragon Ball Sparking Zero. he mean And on the other side of that, you got Metaphor, Re-Fantasio, the next game from Atlus with the Persona devs.
01:11:55
Speaker
and Yeah, I think those two games are the ones that i'm like really excited about from this list like there's a lot of really good ones Uh, you know, maybe if they get good reviews i'll play those but these is i'm almost certainly playing no matter what Yeah, dude, like sparking zero first time they're making a game like the dragon ballsy budokai 10 kaiichi games in 14 years I think is how long it's been crazy. That is um crazy And I used to I used to play all the budokai 10 kaiichi games. So this is like
01:12:26
Speaker
ah Revisiting kind of like childhood, but it's like way better. There's more characters like it's gonna be 180 characters, dude It's so unreal and I can't wait to get like a bit of like it almost like nostalgia I guess from it, too You know, I it is very new but you know, it's got gonna have like a nostalgic feel I believe in the trailers look really good for it and also metaphor Being I i've been watching people play the demo. I have not played it myself I've just watched other people play it and it just I mean it's got it's very stylish Just just like persona it just it feels like it's going to be a persona game But like if they weren't trapped in a school, you know, yeah persona but more politics Yeah, kind of I guess it's more like I don't know. It feels like a more
01:13:13
Speaker
adultish version, I guess of it, which like, yeah not that's not to knock persona. I still love the persona games, but like, you know, it's, it just feels like a, a new way to experience like a good game, but like a they're trying something way different with the story in a different setting. And it's going to be really sick. I can't wait to play both of them. I'm just mad that they're both coming out the same day. You know,
01:13:33
Speaker
Yeah. Yeah, sure. Yeah. Have you played the the answer DLC for P3R yet? Dude, I haven't. I it took me a while to finish P3R, not because it was just because like I was playing like other games, too. Yeah. um Very good. Probably my favorite persona game. And also I didn't. But I didn't get the the season pass or whatever. That's like I think necessary to like, yeah, it's essentially you get the season pass and you get every all the music and costumes and everything else they included with it.
01:14:02
Speaker
yeah i haven't gotten that yet and like i am not super antsy to play it i will play it for sure but i'm not like Yeah, no you yeah just doubt you get you're safe to hold off on it. i'm As the guy who jumped in right with it, I'm going to say this, I probably would have stopped playing it if I didn't use the Reaper to power level myself because the game the immediate gameplay grind of it, of with it being just essentially just Tartarus, it's a bit rough, because especially with you going back down to level 30 to start.
01:14:36
Speaker
Oh, yeah, it does. Yeah, it really sounds like it it has the same issues of like the original where it was just such a grind and ah such a slog. You wonder why the answer isn't like here's the thing. The second you get to the call of sale, that's where it like it picks up again. It's like, OK, this is good, but it's getting there. Yeah.
01:14:57
Speaker
Yeah, I'll probably pick it up eventually too. But yeah, I'm not I'm not in a huge rush. Like if it came out a little earlier and I was more off the high of just finishing the game, I probably would have. But yeah. Kind of am about it right now. No, definitely. I think if this was released a lot sooner, I probably the the high of persona three reload probably would have carried a lot better. Yeah. But the gap, the gap that it had right here, like unless you're like just coming off of like the main game high and just getting into it, then I think you're fine. But if you're if you're like if you've been waiting for months off of that high, it's definitely going to be a rough time for you because it was. Yeah, definitely.
01:15:33
Speaker
um Just as 2025 what more can I say game of the year right there guys? It's is It all always got one always got one. Um the 17th Super Mario Party Let's go. Yeah, it looks like the first time that they're like, I don't know the last few Mario. Well, I guess last couple last few Mario Party games have just been not greatly like they haven't been super well received. I know the most recent one had like they were like, OK, this is like in the right direction, but they barely had any boards for it. Yeah. If if we're taught if we're talking like new entries and not not entries that oh, here is basically a best of collection. So like super.
01:16:13
Speaker
yeah The Mario Party Superstars, the most recent one, which is basically what that one was. Yeah, we're looking at Super Mario Party. Yeah, it was it was it was back on the right direction, but not quite there. And this goes back to classic Mario Party formula. Mm hmm. Yeah, i'm I'm super excited for this. i'm I'm getting it the day comes out comes out on my birthday. Woo.
01:16:37
Speaker
Uh, I already hi am, uh, doing, I'm doing the game voucher when I eventually get, uh, echoes of wisdom and using the voucher on that. oh yeah That is exactly what I

Sonic Speedrunning Challenges

01:16:47
Speaker
did. I bought the game voucher for echoes of wisdom and that's going to be the other game I get with it is Jamboree. That's a good idea. I might have to do that too, especially with switch, like probably towards the end of life cycle. Uh, it sounds like a good game to use it on for sure.
01:17:03
Speaker
It's it's ah it's definitely like the second that Nintendo Direct came out with both of us. I'm like, okay I know what I'm using the voucher for again yeah ah But yeah, those those are the main games coming out and yeah, it's looking those days two weeks looking pretty good But that's our first dive into our pain focus and here's what we're talking about this week in the game lounge
01:17:28
Speaker
Conversations of past and future games, the state of the gaming industry, how big decisions affect gamers and anything else that's important to us. Here's what's going down this week in the Game Lounge. We're starting off looking at Mr. Don Essar, Don Sr., who has played a lot of 3D Sonic this year. Yeah.
01:17:50
Speaker
um Yeah, so originally, basically, I'll talk a little bit about like what sort of the main focus of this was, and I'll talk about some inspiration as well. But essentially, I wanted to do a run where I beat every 3D mainline Sonic game in 24 hours. um And this was very much inspired, like, right before Frontiers, there's this creator, I don't remember exactly how to say their name, but Yako something, I forget exactly what it is. ah But they did a video that was, can I beat every 3D Sonic game in a week? And I really love that video. I thought it was awesome. Spoiler alert, he didn't even actually end up beating them in a week. It ended up taking like eight days or something. Still very impressive.
01:18:33
Speaker
um But then past that, M ended up doing like, how many games can I beat in 24 hours? And I thought that was a really cool concept. ah And it was a problem because when I saw M go live with that, I was like, well, how long would it take if you were like really good at every speed run, you know? ah Because M obviously only knows a few of the games.
01:18:55
Speaker
So as speedruns. Yeah, I did not. I did not really prepare at all for it. It was like one of those things where it was just like, oh, I because like I also watched the yaco video very, very well done video. um it It was just ah it it it it it inspired me to want to try to like see how many games I could do at my current skill level, but I was not trying to like do what Don did and.
01:19:18
Speaker
Like really prepare for it, you know, and like have like, uh, try my best to actually beat all of them. It was more so like, Oh, like, let me see if I can do it or how far I would get done. Uh, how many games did you get done emerald? Oh, I think it was six. I think, hold on. It was SA two frontiers, heroes, uh, generations, actually. Oh, it might've only been like.
01:19:46
Speaker
five or six i think so okay with like oh forces forces was in there um and sad x so yeah it was yeah it was actually six or seven somewhere around there but i remember i like generations technically i did not beat it right at the like the 24 hour deadline, it was like 24 hours and 10 minutes because the final boss fight time eater, like the game tells you to boost, but it doesn't tell you you're supposed to boost the entire time. Like if you're not boosting the entire time, you will not catch up with time eater in the boss fight. So you I was 24 hours in sleep deprived, not knowing what I had to do. And I lost the fight because I didn't do that. And so then I loaded up the next attempt.
01:20:32
Speaker
and got it first try with the holding boost the whole time. But yeah, it technically was not in the time limit, so you can say what you will. But I'll say that I beat it because I beat the rest of the game. So. All right. All right. And Don, how many 3D Sonic games does this challenge entail? ah So it ends up being 10 games. You have the first two Sonic adventure and then you have Heroes 06, Unwished.
01:21:01
Speaker
colors, generations, lost world, forces, and then frontiers. So that's your 10. um The games that I was like, okay, these are ones that I think people are probably gonna fight me on. 3D Blast is kind of funny. I don't even really think the game's actually 3D, so. Technically, it's is' I always call it 3D Blast a 2.5D game. Yes. Because even though it's like 3D graphics, it's like, it's a very different 3D game experience.
01:21:33
Speaker
Yeah, and like when people say the first 3d sonic game they think adventure not 3d blast So it's like oh, yeah, I could probably cut that one out for pretty much free um But people bring it up all the time. I mean, I feel like it's a quick game anyways, but like I still get all like it starting with adventure just makes more sense and Yeah, that's exactly how I felt. it Yeah, it wasn't like about time. It was just more like it doesn't really feel right for me to do it. um And then the next one is Shadow, yeah which at the time made a lot of sense to say, okay, well, they haven't even talked about Black Doom or like the events of this game for like decades. Like they just wiped this game off the map, you know? Yeah, and now we're essentially getting shot at the Hedgehog 2 in a month. I know. And I'm like, man, like,
01:22:19
Speaker
It's almost bad timing, but it's like good timing, you know, because they're revisiting everything. So I don't know. It's weird. I think if I were to redo the challenge, I would potentially add it. I'm i'm not. too one because The challenge was just any percent, correct?
01:22:36
Speaker
Yeah, I was just basically beating every game. The thing that sucks about Shadow is there's no real clean category for completely beating the game ah because you have to do like the 10 different paths. Yeah. So that was another consideration was like, how would I even do it? um In hindsight, I think I would do expert mode, but that doesn't really it feels weird. So and then the the last ones are the storybook games, which people are like really fierce about those being mainline, but they're like not even really in the canon of the mainline Sonic games. So ah yeah, I think it's kind of a stretch to say that their main line, I mean,
01:23:16
Speaker
They referenced a little bit of frontiers, I think, with some soundbites, but that's about it, I think. Yeah, I don't know. It's a weird one. um And then some people were trying to fight me on the fact that, like, a lost world is mainline. And I'm like, OK, I don't know what you're talking about, because, like, Zavox literally enforces Brolic. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah. Oh, ah the other one is Sonic Boom, which again, like, feels even more obviously like a so like a spin off.
01:23:43
Speaker
um It feels more like a licensed kids game type beat. It's like not. i I don't know. It doesn't it doesn't feel like it was like a meant to be like a mainline Sonic game. It was more so just to be a tie into the show and stuff. Yeah.
01:24:00
Speaker
So those are the games that I think like I'm potentially open to adding later if I end up doing a challenge or adding more to it. But like ah to me, they're like not if there's a question to it, I kind of want to just say no, it's not mainline. But it's it's hard because there's no definitive list to it really, you know. um But yeah, I basically after I saw all of those videos going down and stuff, I was kind of thinking, OK,
01:24:27
Speaker
Well, the problem for me was that I had never run Heroes, which is the longest game in the challenge. I had never run i never even played 06, which is the second longest game in the run. And I was like, man, I don't know if I'm going to like either of the speedruns. And then ah Sonic Unleashed I had never played either. So I was like, OK, those are the three longest games in this challenge. I don't want to commit to just doing this without having played most of them.
01:24:55
Speaker
ah almost ever so I spent like probably almost a year learning some of heroes playing through a six and learning some runs and then doing a first playthrough of unleashed before I was like you know what I'm gonna actually do this thing because I had a good time with heroes and then I was six both and just from playing unleashed casually I knew I was gonna love playing the game more it at any capacity really um And it's now one of my favorite speedruns of all time. So it's a very good game.
01:25:30
Speaker
um But yeah, I think back in March, I officially announced it. And then me and M started learning Unleashed together. ah Now he has very much surpassed my time since I only spent like a few weeks of learning. Yeah, but Bro has not been playing the game. So it's like, I really like, I mean, I don't really think it's comparable because like he played for like what, like a few weeks and then like has derusted once and then like,
01:25:58
Speaker
I've been a little on and off with it because I've been speedrunning like a bunch of games But like I've definitely put more time into it just because I had the time to put more time into it, you know
01:26:07
Speaker
Yeah. um But it was cool, though, when we were first learning, because even though I was like I was giving it like my everything, you know, because I only had those three weeks. Yeah. And I feel like we were both still around the same level. Yeah, we were like, I think with my last PB, I was ahead. But then like the next week you beat me. So I was like, man, this is cool. This is a nice little back and forth here. Made me really excited to come back to it eventually. Yeah. um i But yeah, like pretty much just over the months just like warning every game. I was pretty tirelessly like Practicing off stream and then I would come to stream ready for runs, you know um
01:26:47
Speaker
It was crazy, man. It it was like a really long time of me doing like nothing else but learning these games because I wanted to get it done before this game comes out, shot Shadow Sonic Gens. And I was like, man, I'm going to have to learn these games so fast from like March you know to like August, September time. like That's a lot to do, learning like five or six different speedruns to a high enough level to get a decent time.
01:27:14
Speaker
um and then refreshing with the ones that you already know. Yeah, exactly, because you don't especially the games that are long, long later in the challenge, like Frontiers, like you don't that's not a game you want to be feeling rusty on, especially when you're like 20 hours deep into the run. Yeah, but that would be yeah I wouldn't be very poggers of you.
01:27:37
Speaker
Yeah, that that was a little painful. I'm not going to lie. ah Doing it, even even though I did de-rust, I can't imagine what it would have been like if I like hadn't practiced at all. So what were what were the easiest and hardest runs of this challenge for you? Hmm. OK. From practicing to the final run itself. Yeah. OK, so I would say.
01:28:02
Speaker
There's probably two that are the hardest. I don't know if I can pick necessarily, but ah Warning Unleashed was like hell. It was awful. M can attest, it was rough. Yeah, that game is, ah it's really tough. It's like really, it's really top loaded in a sense of like, um you have a lot that you need to learn just to get into the speed run to like actually complete a run. Cause the way that progression works in that game is you have to collect medals as you go.
01:28:30
Speaker
Um, and you have to like learn the locations and get them all going like a million miles an hour in that game. Um, and then also like, as you get better at it, you unlock more of the like advanced tech for that game or it like adds another layer of difficulty. It's not like difficult anymore because at that point you've got like, you know, the route, you you know what you need to do to like get the metals, but now you have to do it while going even faster than a million miles an hour. It's just, it's a lot.
01:28:57
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's a really tough game. And like I think we we did a 12 hour challenge, which um is where you essentially try to learn the speed run and then do some runs and try to see who can get like a better time was the idea. ah We didn't even do a run that day. Oh, my God. Because I think my first run through took me like 10 and a half hours and I didn't even feel confident with everything I learned.
01:29:22
Speaker
um Yeah, it was it was ridiculous, especially for a ah ah speed run that the world record is like an hour and 46 hour 47. You'd think that it would be easier to learn but like I took like another week of practice after that and then did a run. but was ridiculous that which Which is the harder sections and unleash the night or the day?
01:29:46
Speaker
uh probably the day definitely the day i mean there's like some niche there's some niche stuff and like werehog that can be difficult but like a lot of werehog is sure knowing some clips out of bounds and like knowing where and like how to do them in a way because also the clips just the but the werehog has a thing where you can do go through wall glitch is what it's called um And you can just die while performing that trick at any time if you just press the like button that you need to press to clip out of bounds a little too late. um And so like there's always like that layer to it. But it's like once you get more comfortable with it, it's not too bad. It's the fights that lose you a lot of time just like optimizing those. But like du daytime Sonic is just...
01:30:33
Speaker
so much it's it's so much um it's also so fun though it is it's probably the most satisfying game to go fast in i think out of the sauna games that i've played um but It takes a lot of practice. the The game doesn't have a lot of good practice tools, unfortunately, like emulator doesn't have save states. um So like you're basically anytime you're practicing anything, it's from a checkpoint or from the beginning of the level. So it's really hard to get some of the more difficult tricks down in the game, too.
01:31:05
Speaker
Yeah. There's ah there's two things I would say, like for for nighttime. the One of the really hard things is um the night stages is what's called infinite exp glitch. Oh, yeah. When we were learning, that was painful. um I'm not going to get too deep into it, but essentially you can hit the goal ring and then ah do an action that interrupts the goal ring playing out, right? And then you can basically just keep refreshing that and use the EXP over and over. But you're basically layering the menu on top of each other, as well as the um the level clear theme, by the way, which gets insanely loud. yeah But it's so complicated. Like me and M both sat there and tried to get it down for like an hour, if not more.
01:31:51
Speaker
in that 12 hours and ah I think I was able to get it once but I failed in the middle of the menuing part ah which it's a terrifying thing because if you Miss it in a run you can't really reattempt it if you mess up the menuing And that was like one of the scariest things for the challenge. I like locked the fuck in when that happened doing the XP glitch is 40 minutes into the run too so it's like it's not even like a like a oh I mess this up let me quickly reset so that I can like get my XP back or something so you're only real alternative if you if you mess it up at the start you can reattempt it and it's a you waste like probably like a minute and a half maybe two minutes going through the level again
01:32:35
Speaker
But if you mess it up halfway through the the glitch where you've already used your XP and then you just like advance forward, you lose your XP. Like it's, it's gone. So you can't just like farm it again. You're just kind of stuck with the lower levels and like you can theoretically still keep going. You'll just lose way more time over the course of the run compared to like not having done the the the glitch correctly. Wow. Yeah.
01:33:02
Speaker
It's a big deal. Yeah. Especially like taking it from like 40 minutes into the run until like 10, 11 hours into the run. You're like, Oh man, I can't mess this up. It's going to lose me like 20 minutes or something. Like, cause I also have never really done a run where I failed it. I've never really finished it out. So I was like, I don't want to learn now.
01:33:20
Speaker
And fortunately, I did hit it, but I was like so focused. Like you can see it in my face. Like I was not thinking about anything else in the world in that moment. Like nothing was going through my mind except for that trick. Wow. Oh, I I could. Oh, it's like it's a good there's a good reason I retired. I say to speed running. It's tough, man. That's also a really hard game. Yes. I say to is a very difficult speed game.
01:33:49
Speaker
I like I replayed it for my stream anniversary and I'm like I can still pause over and like that's nice and I can still like do certain tech but I'm just like yeah this I'm like I one I don't think I could ever like dedicate and have that much time focused into practicing mm-hmm just because it's like I want to play other games out there and like dedicating my time to do that is just I don't have that kind of level of patience with yeah a game unless I'm like dedicated to platinum it in which case it's like okay my brains already said yeah but like this is a whole nother ball game because there is no like trophy reward for it
01:34:28
Speaker
Yeah. And I feel like it's difficult too. Cause I know you're really into final fantasy 14. So it's like, well, if I mean, having a game like that, it makes it difficult to add in something like speed running to be like a regular thing because you already have like a game that you regularly play that you like enjoy playing, probably play with friends and stuff like that. You know, but then like you also, uh, are a completionist and really like playing the new games that come out. So it's like, when you're trying to like balance that.
01:34:53
Speaker
Not possible. yeah stuff You got to make you got to make a gaming sacrifice. And if if speed running is not something you're like super crazy passionate about, I don't blame you, man. Yeah, true. ah So what was the other hard game that you said there, Don?
01:35:09
Speaker
uh it's it's like a technically hard game i think in the challenge heroes was probably one of the hardest because one is just really freaking long like you gotta play all four teams over and over and it's like uh anywhere from like four and a half to five hours depending on how good you are um Plus it's just like a really mechanically intensive game. Like I think it's probably the most button pressy game out of the whole challenge. And it's also the longest, but it's like double the length of the next longest game, which is ridiculous. um So how many bot boosts did you learn?
01:35:46
Speaker
So, okay, I actually did. This is like a big thing I go into in the the video that I eventually made for it. um I actually didn't do any bot boosts very intentionally because I switched to the PC version. If you even knew there was a PC version of Heroes, um it came out later. it Pached out bot boosts, but they added a new really broken thing called an ultra glide Which is essentially like if you get some sort of skewed gravity slope, right? Like there's something that's not a flat ground you can glide with ah The power character and you will just go Rocketing across the mat for some reason like you just get way too much speed and you can skip like massive chunks of stages it's way easier than pop boosts, but it doesn't save us much time and
01:36:35
Speaker
ah But it'll save more time over doing skip list, basically. OK. Plus the PC version. Also, um the loads are way faster. I estimated it saved me like 12 to 15 minutes over the course of the run. Wow. It's kind of ridiculous. They're like instant loads. Wow. Which team was ranking the teams of least favorite to play in most play throughout that run? Ooh.
01:37:04
Speaker
I think Team Sonic was my favorite. Surprisingly, I really like Team Rose in PC because the glides are really fun and the stages are like short. So like you, I don't know, you don't get any, you don't ever get too bogged down in any one stage. um And then Team Dark and Chaotix, they can both go to hell.
01:37:26
Speaker
They killed me in that run. I love Chaotix normally, but like ah this one enemy didn't spawn and I had to kill it and I kept running through the stage and it took me like 10 minutes for one stage. I was like, all right, you know, maybe my relationship with Chaotix has ended. Relationship with Chaotix is over. Now my new friend is Shadow the Hedgehog. Except not because he's still in my shipbooks from Sonic Heroes. true Well, we'll make it up.
01:37:52
Speaker
OK, and then on the easy side of things, I'm assuming your prior and vast knowledge of SA2 and SadEx probably made those relatively a breeze for you. Yeah, I would say just because I knew those games and it started out the challenge, right? um I was fresh gaming wise and I know them so well, like the back of my hand, you know.
01:38:14
Speaker
Like that was super easy. um But I would say in terms of actual speed run, like Sonic colors ultimate is actually not too bad of a game. ah If if I'll give the caveat, you don't go for any of the crazy, crazy skips. um I only went for like three skips. You can really say it is hard at all. And I missed one. And then two of them went pretty well. um And, you know, you just walk in in those moments and otherwise you're just kind of boosting and doing some like light platforming.
01:38:43
Speaker
um As it oh actually man, I totally take it back I didn't even speedrun sonic forces and I still beat it like just as fast as colors. So actually I think that's yes but ah a Yeah, I beat it in like an hour 30 I think I actually should like submit that to the leaderboard cuz it's like almost a top 50 time. It's kind of funny wow that okay then yeah know How that happened yeah, so Since we've had, lot since we're still talking about the speedruns, since we've had, compared to the last time we've had the two of you on, in the SA2 side, what's changed with the SA2 speedruns? Has much changed? Is there new stuff that we should know about? What's been happening within the Sonic speedrun community? well And the speedruns themselves? I guess like the biggest thing is the new emphasis on hunting.
01:39:36
Speaker
Yeah, I think that's really it because I think the last time obt had just been found a little bit ago before that Yeah, but no big skips or really anything like that. That's wild actually Yeah, we're in a bit of a drought for like new big flashy things and we're more so like I I feel like we've been kind of like approaching this time Like it was inevitable, but like everybody kind of delayed it, but we're now in into using spreadsheets a lot more. We have already kind of like over time, people have started to use um spreadsheets for like, because when you load into a stage, uh, for the first time, there's always, it'll, there's a set of 1024 sets that will spawn. And by using that knowledge and using the like possible sets and having them all in a document, you can like,
01:40:26
Speaker
No, you can like have confirmed set knowledge. like If you get like a P1 or like a free piece in a P1, you can be like, okay, well, I know where this other piece is or this last piece will be because of that's the only way that it it like it's guaranteed to spawn based on the sets that we know in the 1024.
01:40:43
Speaker
um but now it's like progressed to like people have like optimized what sets are the best. So like you, like when, when people are doing that, they like look at their spreadsheets while they're playing so that they can preemptively like start planning routes in their head so that they can like optimally get the best time. So people have like the, the, the document open as they're playing and they're trying to like, uh, some people have like cheat sheets for like specific ones to like look out for that will be really good if you like have the knowledge for it. Um,
01:41:14
Speaker
And yeah, I mean, like they're just, they're really, cut I mean, it's making runs more consistent for the people who are really good at it. Um, making runs more takeable, especially like for stages like meteor heard, which is like the last RNG stage in hero story where you can have like some really bad sets unless you can turn some really bad sets into good ones by just having the knowledge from like the spreadsheet, you know,
01:41:42
Speaker
Yeah. Wow. To add on to that, they they combined. They also weren't something else to because of, you know, there's that ten twenty four set list. um They actually found out something that the meteors, the way that they spawn in in meteor heard there, those are actually also somewhat predetermined and they have ten twenty four patterns. Funny enough, they go off the in game frame counter that hunting does as well.
01:42:08
Speaker
So they found out if you know certain sets plus and you look at the meteors and you see a specific pattern and then you get the piece one, you're like, oh, I know where my piece two and my piece three is. Oh, God. It's insane. The stars literally have a line that they're crashing down to tell me where the master emerald is. Wait, I'm going to steal that for the eventual YouTube video. Go for it. It's yours. It's yours So speaking of the YouTube video, so you learn all these speedruns you practice your ass off the day comes when you Make the challenge and how would you how did challenge day go? It was honestly a terrible start because I had to take my fiance to the
01:42:52
Speaker
to the airport and it was miserable. And then I was up for like two hours before I started, which is like a big no-no if you do these big challenge runs. um But, you know, I did it anyway and I ended up like absolutely obliterating the challenge. i You know, I thought I was going to get like a 23 hour time, just barely beat it. I ended up getting like a mid 21 hour time. So I did way better than I expected um going into it.
01:43:19
Speaker
Yeah, I was I was very proud of how fast I was able to be all the games. Nice. And honestly, I can still improve it a lot, too, because some of the games I didn't spend too much time on, like, literally, I never learned the force of speedruns. So that's a big improvement there. ah You know what this means, Don? It means that if you wanted to prove those naysayers wrong, you could, if you ever decided to do this in the future, add Sonic 3D Blast and potentially Shadow the Hedgehog 2.
01:43:49
Speaker
Yeah, I think I think I i could add expert mode and 3D Blast and maybe one of the storybook games. I don't think I could do both or Sonic Boom, because I just looked at like the times for that game in like 30 minutes.
01:44:01
Speaker
ah Okay, that's not too bad. So potentially hey, it just means more Sonic and a more more more speedruns to learn So how did post-production go for this video? That is if you're listening to this if you're listening to this podcast right now um The video is out on Don's YouTube channel. You can go watch it when you're done listening to this amazing conversation. We're having um How did the post-production go for this video? did it Go as you wanted was for their problem. What how is that? How did it go?
01:44:32
Speaker
Man, this is crazy because like if you look at my YouTube channel like past this video, um my longest video on here is I believe 18 minutes. ah Yeah, this video is an hour and 27 runtime. So I literally lapped myself by an hour plus more. ah I was not expecting how much this video is going to be to make like an actual like basically feature length movie. love We love to see it.
01:44:59
Speaker
But honestly, I'm like happy with how fast I was able to get it done, especially because I didn't foresee how busy I was going to be in my personal life, how much work it was going to take to actually make something like this. um My timeline was originally I wanted to put the video out two weeks ago, and that was like my, you know, like maybe I can make this work. ah So the fact that I'm only two weeks late on that with so much unexpected stuff going down, I'm honestly not too unhappy about it.
01:45:27
Speaker
um But yeah, I mean, this was a hell of a project. I think I just posted this, uh, to some people, but the script ended up being 17,000 words long. Oh my God. Yeah. a totally same number an Extra credit on the college essay. My God. Yeah. It ended up just the script alone ended up being 35 pages.
01:45:53
Speaker
like was writing a thesis yeah actually this this is the sonic thesis that uh they called us not to worry about It is what it is. And was this solely edited by you or was there editing? So there is 20 minutes or no, not 20 minutes, 20 seconds edited by the one ah the one and only Dietrater one. Let's see exactly how long because I just had to edit at the intro because ah there was a lot of fancy edits I had ideas for. And I was like, you would just do this better and I don't really want to spend that much time on it.
01:46:29
Speaker
Uh, let's see. It is exactly 26 seconds long. So the rest of the one hour, 27 and 25 seconds is that's all me. Wow. Congrats on that. I cannot wait again as of time recording this, it's the, this is the day before the video drops. Yeah. So after this, I'm going to go and do my final review, but like everything's already ready. I have all of the like chapters and All the subtitles done, the thumbnails in there. it's It's all good to go. I just have to go through and make sure there wasn't any like rendering mistakes or anything, you know? um And that's pretty much it. i' The video's done. We're completely in post-production at this point. I'm excited to sit down, have a meal, and watch this and epic movie but that's going to drop on DonSR slash YouTube.com. YouTube dot.com slash DonSR.
01:47:22
Speaker
Flip it, reverse it. There you go. You get there at the end. Would you do this challenge again, Don? If you had the ability to, would you do this challenge again? Yeah, we've we've actually talked about it. um There's another multi multi sonic speed runner that ah named a new new U.S.R. that she also wants to run this. um And we both for the first time, we were both like, yeah, we kind of want to do the first one on our own.
01:47:52
Speaker
Uh, but eventually we do want to potentially race this. Um, and I think that would be really fun and maybe add in, uh, shadow generations as well. I think that would be really cool. Um, thanks the most yeah as well yeah, I think it's like, uh, just add in that part and like play it with generations too, I think would make a lot of sense. Um,
01:48:15
Speaker
Yeah, I just I think I need some time because that was a long run and I think I'd want to derust every game a little bit better. I think like one thing I want to do is I might give it a year or two before I do it again um and actually like take more time to even get better at the games than I was ah last time. I think that would be pretty cool to like really be able to give it a good shot of like ah what that time could feasibly drop to.
01:48:44
Speaker
OK. And to add on to that question, do you think you would ever become crazy enough to make possibly to add time, maybe make it a 48 hour challenge to do every mainline Sonic title? Oh, boy. ah Yeah, I've definitely thought about it. I don't think there's that many more games. I do think it could be realistic. Like it could even be a thing where I do like half the games and then sleep and then do the rest of them.
01:49:14
Speaker
um Man, that I want to, but God, that's going to be hard. But at least I already know I think the 3D mainline is the hardest part of that. So adding like 2D mainline and, you know, if I do end up adding shadow or whatever, um it wouldn't be too hard to add the individual games. ah But I haven't really run many 2D games. I've done some Sonic CD, but to a very low level. um So, yeah, it would definitely be interesting. I don't really even know if I would like speed running the 2D games, but
01:49:46
Speaker
I'm open to it. i'm I'm not going to say no, but we'll see. Okay. You heard me here first, folks. Don SR open to potentially losing his mind live on stream, all for your guys's entertainment and his personal pride.
01:50:03
Speaker
ah um There is one more thing I want to talk to you guys about before we move on to our second topic and that is an event you both participated in recently um with a bunch of other ah Sonic speedrunners, I think all but one who have been on this podcast. That was the Sonic extravaganza ah hosted by Mr. AF lasers himself. Yeah, how was the event?
01:50:28
Speaker
I thought it was pretty good. I mean, considering, especially since like he, uh, AF wagers has never done an event like that. Um, there was obviously going to be some issues and there were, but I mean, he was mostly running it himself. He had some people come in to like help him with like kind of the backend stuff, like preparation for the event and everything.
01:50:49
Speaker
But, um, yeah, like him, uh, April samurai and somebody else, I think we're all like kind of keeping the stream going. I think the runs were good. I thought the commentary was pretty good. It was pretty fun to be a part of. So yeah, nice. Don, your take on the event. Yeah, it was a really cool event. Uh, pretty much a lot of the stuff that I'm said, like, I mean, he killed it considering it was pretty much just him and like, you know, some people helping like, yeah, shout out to April. Uh,
01:51:19
Speaker
Yeah, I mean, like it was really high production value. I was pretty surprised at how I guess I shouldn't say surprise because wagers definitely goes out of his way to make sure that everything is always really clean. um Yeah. You know, with the new overlays, like even if the old the old one was like, great, he always just tries to go for something new quite often and, you know, really pushes at the boundaries. um It was really cool. Like I really enjoyed doing sonic colors and ah You know, I pretty much told them because of the 3D challenge. I was like, man, just tell me the game and I'm in. It's like, I'll do any of them. It doesn't matter. Nice. um And yeah, the comms on that was really fun. And then I got to do comms on like Em's run, Em's hero story run and yeah close it out with last story. So it was a really good time, honestly.
01:52:05
Speaker
Yeah. Then like with Don on comms for hero story, whether he's running it or I'm running it and we're like vice versa on comms, we kind of have that down to a science at this point. yeah The two of you just have ah have one of the best dynamics in speed running when it comes to runner commentator. What, regardless of which one of you is on which spot. Thank you. And it's one of the best things to see in this modern era of speed running.
01:52:30
Speaker
Dope. Thank you. That's a huge compliment. Yeah, I hope you don't it's like a part of me is like I hope you guys are able to like apply for it um with the twitch next year's twitch con s GQ thing if you guys get in there That'd be great because I could finally meet you guys as well church are true Yeah, we'll see we want to try to get like a hero story race or something in into GDQ and one of the GDQs at one point. Hell yeah. Yeah. um But yeah, now we'll keep trying to choose a sick game. They they've been showing it off a decent bit recently rather than it not existing a GDQ. So we can't complain too much. But yeah, we'll see. We'll see. We're also I mean,
01:53:15
Speaker
We could try it with some other Sonic game too, like we could honestly do that with like Unleashed 2 if they would let Unleashed be there. True. Yeah, that'd be sick.
01:53:27
Speaker
Hey! Yeah, you! You've been gaming for six hours straight with no hydration station. You're starting to look like a ghoul from Fallout 4. Go drink some water. Yeah, that's it. That's the whole message. Drink water, ya gremlin.
01:53:43
Speaker
Alrighty, well, it's time for us to move on to our second topic of the day, Sonic X Shadow Generations. I guess you could call this the preview to the full game release um at the end of the month here. um So starting off, what are your guys' thoughts on everything that we've seen up to this point from Shadow's new powers to the stages we currently know, the bosses we currently know? What are your thoughts on all of this?

Upcoming Sonic Game Speculations

01:54:10
Speaker
Honestly, I think this could be like one of the coolest Sonic games ever made. I think like visually it definitely is going to be probably the coolest Sonic game ever ever made, just based on like the gameplay we've seen and the trailers we've seen. they like They kind of understand what looks cool. And they're really giving everything to that. like I don't know. It's just like, I think, all right, well, like visually it's gonna be the most stunning Sonic game we've ever seen. I think, at least the shadow section is going to be bar none.
01:54:41
Speaker
um Yeah. I think gameplay wise, um, it's looking also pretty good. I, you know, obviously as speed runners, it's something that we like definitely like really stare at really, really hard for like went like before release. I mean, obviously everybody else cares about gameplay too, but it just like,
01:55:01
Speaker
I think that there is some really good potential for stuff, you know, so, you know, ah overall, I'm excited. And i I think that I'm the most excited for like, I feel similar in excitement level to like how I felt about frontiers, which I think is saying a lot. Yeah, yeah, definitely. and What about you, Don?
01:55:22
Speaker
Yeah. I mean, pretty much a lot of what I'm is saying, man, I'm just so excited. Like I'm trying my best not to get over hyped, but like it's hard with these, all the trailers, the new, uh, what's it called again? Dark, dark beginnings. Is that what it is?
01:55:38
Speaker
So good. Like, it's just all amazing. So well animated. It ah like kind of like Emma was saying, like they I almost feel like for a long time, right? They I don't think they understood how to make Sonic cool. And it feels like they actually like get the vision now, you know, like what we've all seen from Sonic this whole time, what we've wanted forever. It feels like they finally understand it and they're able to execute to some level.
01:56:04
Speaker
ah Which makes me really really excited for the next game because like this game apparently has only had like two years of development time So I'm like what's gonna happen when you have frontiers to with like a triple a size team? Like three or four years of development most likely and like a way better vision of what that should be, you know ah yeah It just blows my mind. I feel like we're in like peak Sonic right now. It's really cool. We we definitely are um going over the individual points of shadows, new powers. That's that is like seeing him grow wings and like the the energy stuff like his attacks and everything like those are cool. I think seeing him grow wings and a boat were not on my 2024 Bingo card.
01:56:50
Speaker
Yeah, I appreciate though that they're doing something that makes him unique though, right? Like that is like because they could have gone the route Of just making it more cookie cutter like okay, it's shadow but like it's basically sonic but it looks like shadow, right? So it's like, you know, the gameplay is still the same but they're really like I mean obviously like he's still a hedgehog so he's trying to like do his best or they're trying to do their best to like you know make them similar in that regard but he's really gonna come into his own I think with this with this game and like they're really dope like the new the new power looks so cool
01:57:29
Speaker
they They really do. And the the fact that one of the statues that they showed off is Shadow just with the wings standing on some rubble. yeah Like, oh, that looks so good. Do you think? Do you think somewhere in the game they're going to have Shadow? They're going to give Shadow a gun again? Nope.
01:57:51
Speaker
No, no, I don't think so. not even It's just like a joke where he's holding it for a second and it throws it away. ah No, I mean, I guess they could maybe do it as like a very quick bit or something where he's like, I don't need this. And then he like just like runs forward and then like starts like doing like the energy shots or whatever, like the chaos spear type stuff. But like, I don't think that they're going to acknowledge it. Honestly, I think that.
01:58:17
Speaker
To be fair though, like thinking about it more so in like modern times, I think it would definitely, them showing like a lot of guns in shadow would be like not the best thing. um Which is understandable too, yep, absolutely. Yeah, but you know i I think that if they did do a bit like that, it would be very welcomed. Everybody would lose their mind over it, and then they'd be like, okay, this is a great way to move on from this. you know It would be on Twitter so fast. It's like the day the the game comes out. You just look at Twitter before opening the game. It's just gone and everyone's going That's what we're waiting for um of Currently the stages we know about our final rush radical highway rail Canyon Kingdom Valley sunset Heights and Chaos Island and from the sound of it the game is gonna be the same length as generations and
01:59:15
Speaker
So that that blows my mind. I'm so happy. It roughly means we're probably getting three to four more stages in there as well, potentially. ah What do you guys if if they if we if there are a couple more stages that we don't know about, what are you hoping they are?
01:59:30
Speaker
Uh, I think like, well, okay. So actually, uh, I don't know if this is like confirmed, but I guess, uh, I think it was a TGS. Uh, they had Jun Senoue play like a remix of a song and they did Westopolis. Um, so I'm like, Ooh, we could see Westopolis. It makes sense. It's like the shadow stage from shadow, uh, the hedgehog. Yeah. Yeah. And we don't have a shadow stage yet, really. I think technically the final rush stage is like mixed from SA2 and um the arc from O5. It's like sort of both.
02:00:03
Speaker
um So I think they might be counting that, but we definitely need more from Shadow, like, you know, his game. Yeah. ah They still have like a decent bit of options. Like I know, like not as a memorable stage, but something like Glyphic Canyon, for example, is like a stage they could pull from. I think it's very likely that there is going to be the final like Black Doom fight.
02:00:28
Speaker
Which they have not showed any like actual footage of just like the fight of him, like fighting the doom eye, but like they'll probably have the fight with black doom and it'll probably be in the same. He'll probably have a stage. That's like similar to the last stage. That's in, uh, shadow Oh five. Yeah. final haunt Final haunt. Sounds right. I think. Yeah.
02:00:52
Speaker
yeah Yeah. Um, so I think they'll, they'll probably do something like that. I don't, I don't really have too many more wants because like a lot of what we already have is like almost more than I expected. So like, i know so it's really hard to like want more when I feel like we're already getting so much more than I expected. Cause when I saw the original trailer for shadow or for Sonic X shadow generations,
02:01:18
Speaker
I thought for sure we were getting three stages and two boss fights and it was just going to be like an added on like tacked on her and it was going to be like a really cool thing but a really short thing that probably would like like ah a lot like episode shadow and forces.
02:01:35
Speaker
Yeah. Like I was thinking like episode shadow, but like they knew that they like barely did anything with episode shadow. So they were going to try a little bit harder just to appease the masses and make it feel like justified to buy it. But no, they're really blowing us. I mean, they're blowing us away here. I really didn't expect to get as much content as we are. yeah All of this plus like a 3D open world hub as well. Mm hmm. Which is crazy as well. um Boss wise, ah currently known. We got Bializard, Metal Overlord, a form of Black Doom, Subway, because obviously Final Boss, Black Doom, Mephiles and SA2 Sonic.
02:02:14
Speaker
Oh, man, I was like begging for for the list for a while, man. Like I was like, we need it because like I feel like he got so dirty being the villain of 06 of all games. Yeah, man. He's so cool. It's kind of like ah like infinite as well, where I thought infinite was pretty cool, but like they just it was a rough game. Yeah. So like they're never really going to get the love that they deserve being in a game that's so critically hated, you know.
02:02:43
Speaker
Yeah, I think Mephiles, like unfortunately of pretty good character in a bad game. So yeah, ah it's good to see him back. I honestly didn't expect him to come back. I kind of just figured that they would just like forget about him because oh yeah, that was no six like whatever. But yeah, they're proving us wrong. I ah as far as like more boss fights, I mean, maybe I think like the ones that they've chosen are really good.
02:03:10
Speaker
I think I also saw in the gameplay footage black bull potentially as well from shadow. Okay, that wouldn't surprise me. Yeah At least something's one of the earlier boss fights in shadow like one of the first boss fights. It looks it's something it was like something big and it was Black Doom. Ask him. It wasn't like like that. It looks like Black Bull. Yeah. Oh, it was just in a stage, right? It if is. Is that what I'm thinking of? Yeah, it looks like it might be a stage, but it might be a boss fight, too, because I because if you if you think of like how the the Black Bull boss fight is, it is just on a piece of road. Yeah. Yeah, true. true
02:03:46
Speaker
Yeah, I don't know. I think, I think those are, those are good options. I think if I wanted to see more, maybe the, well, we might see an emerald fight based on the animation. Oh God. That would, that would be incredible.
02:04:01
Speaker
if they didnt actually they They would be cooking if they did that. Yeah. I think that with the animation, it makes it feel like a likely thing. yeah Um, I'm sure we will find some sort of egg man fight in there potentially, but there is already a lot of bosses. So yeah, I think that I think emerald is a good, like last prediction. And then like, last yeah.
02:04:27
Speaker
Yeah, and and I think Eggman just kind of like filler, but like I think there's already plenty of boss fights. What Eggman robot would they put in if they were to pick it? If you were to pick an Eggman robot for Shadow to go off against? What was the last one in ah Shadow? Do you remember, Don? No. Oh, Egg Dealer? Is that what you're talking about? Dude, Egg Dealer would be kind of funny. Oh, I would hate that so much. Basically, like he's like a slot machine boss, I think, right? oh hu but really you're just Just hitting the slots like dude if that's in the run, I'm gonna I'm gonna go feral I'm gonna go fail man. I'm good, bro don't Please don't just don't bring that into existence man. I think we're fine. Yeah and speaking of the speed run What are you guys hoping out of the shadow speed run?
02:05:15
Speaker
Um, well, I have, it's, it's really hard to know how good it's going to be until we have it in our hands and we're actually like playing it. Um, one of the, that's like kind of the downside with like speculation like this, like we can, like, the thing is though is like, there is a lot of tools there that can be messed with that. I think that like speed runners are going to be able to find some way to exploit like a lot of the new powers and stuff like that. Um, potentially like, uh, skips with like the mechanics kind of like, uh,
02:05:46
Speaker
in Sonic Frontiers, how like in cyberspace levels, there is hitting the gritty slash mag dashing. It is a very easy trick that you just like homing attack something and then like boost to cancel the homing attack. And then you got to like kind of like slingshot yourself forward pretty quickly in the in like the cyberspace levels. I imagine we might be able to find something similar to it in this game, but who knows? Maybe they were like, oh, that was like too broken. and We got to take that out, you know.
02:06:15
Speaker
Can't let mr. Frontiers hit the gritty again. Nope never again Yeah, I've already coined it if it's possible or like more broken or whatever. I want to call it the chaos gritty Yeah, that's a good name I would it that in solidarity. The second I posted it on Twitter, like people were so mad. They're like, no, all the greedy haters were coming out in arms with their pitchforks. They're like, don't you dare? Lots of hate that, but I think it's funny. It's so funny. Like it's it's one ah it's probably still one of my favorite like names for the skip in frontiers. It's been running history. It's one of my favorites.
02:06:57
Speaker
Yeah, it's it's a good one. I'm glad that Don and Gordon were kind of on that wave at the start. And then I was just like, OK, well, I'll follow suit. Sure. I was live streaming the game every day. So when people asked, I was like, yep, that that's hitting the gritty. yeah That's the name of the trick. The trick is stick.
02:07:18
Speaker
huh yeah um Were you hoping this any predictions for the story side of shadow of shadow to electric boogaloo? Well, it actually seems like we're I literally wasn't expecting a story at all. I'm being honest. Yeah um Because let's be honest generations barely has a story I Yeah, yeah, it basically doesn't exist um Yeah, so I Expected absolutely nothing but it seems now we we even got like the most recent video is a story trailer um Seems like we're gonna like
02:07:56
Speaker
take a deep dive more into like Doom, talking like talking to Black Doom, ah Professor Gerald, um Maria. Are we gonna witness Maria die again? Probably. Probably. Maria dying twice in one year? Man, the Sonic fans are eating great. Yeah. Actually three times if you count the animation.
02:08:19
Speaker
Oh, shit. You're right. But I guess the animation, it was more artistic, right? It was like they didn't like show her like actually getting like shot. It was just like she was like welling like constellation and then shattered or something. There's still more episodes. There is still more episodes, yeah. Just the lifeless child and lying on the floor. Every she finds a new way to die. Yeah.
02:08:43
Speaker
That's the bit. But yeah, I don't know. i With Sonic games, I never have big expectations for the story. So yeah anything will be a welcome surprise. I think that they have the opportunity with a character like Shadow who does have more depth than most of the cast to go a direction with it that could be really good. But if they didn't, and I just got to have my badass Shadow levels and boss fights, I would be happy.
02:09:12
Speaker
You know, true yeah a lot of people don't really play Sonic games for the story, you know, so it's not really known for that. So yeah, I think like based off of what they've said, right, I think like one of the things at the end of the story trailer, they said, like, ah set the timeline, correct, like correct the timeline or something like that. So for me, there's like two ways I could see it going. It's like you can go back in time and fix things or shadow has to make Maria die. And either way, it's like, man, that's going to be interesting. That'll be so crazy.
02:09:48
Speaker
Shadow's the one dressed up as the gunshot soldier and is the one that shoots Maria. Yeah, I can tell you some challenging moments like I don't know. It just seems so interesting, like or he'll have to make a choice that will make her die or something. I didn't know. I didn't even think about that, but I think you're just right. Honestly, yeah, that sounds so compelling. Like he has to like be the one to do it because like, let's say she lives and then like the disease she has or something like that spreads to the rest of the human race or something like that.
02:10:18
Speaker
Alright, we figured out the game guys. I can't believe it. i can't We've done it again. leave it just leave it Leave it to the three of us. That sounds so realistic, but if it is that, dude, that's some that's some crazy storytelling right there. Yeah. do you mean Dude, I could see Ian Flynn doing it, man. Yeah. I could see it. And then when December comes out, we get to play as Keanu Reeves.
02:10:40
Speaker
Yeah, dude, I wonder. So they said, OK, so that you said it comes out in December, right? It's the December 12th. It's from the looks of it. It might be. I can't remember this. We know we know that it's like that one guaranteed stage. I think they said it's like it's a movie three pack. So I think we're getting that. We're also getting like Sonic himself. And maybe it tells her Knuckles level two potentially. But it's like it's going to be a couple. I think they said it's three levels of the pack based on the movie.
02:11:06
Speaker
Yeah, I think they said three. boring Or it might be a little more than that, but i I think it was three that they said so. But what I'm interested in is just going to shadow a Sonic level and then something else as well with that.
02:11:18
Speaker
Okay. I think what I'm interested in too is, um, I hope this isn't the only thing. Cause I think that they had mentioned kind of early on after like announcing shadow gens, that there would be more DLC in the future. So hopefully it is more than just a movie pack. Um, cause they have a really cool opportunity to add some, like maybe some stages that they didn't add on the original release.
02:11:39
Speaker
from like it also include those like very obscure DLC packs from the original release as well that were only on like a PlayStation version of the game, I think. Hmm. I don't know much about those, actually, because I really know about that. I remember vaguely remember. I think it was like a casino, one of the casino levels and then something else. It was like two. I think that's I think that actually is in the in the release straight up. That's good. And the remaster. That's good. That's good.
02:12:07
Speaker
um But yeah, ah like I would love to see them do, yeah, more stages. Like I'd love to see some six stages, some more like aquatic base could be really cool or shadow dusty desert makes a lot of sense for him. um But what I could see happening, what I predict to happen over anything else is there's going to be some DC stages like shadow running through Gotham or something like that, which I do think would be really sick, right? um I'm not a huge DC guy, but like I do think they could do some really cool stuff with it. They absolutely could. And they and on top of that DLC, it's a shadow Batman costume. Yes, I do. Oh, well, that sounds like we're just willing it into SEGA Sonic team. Hey, hey, Tony game out here. Listen to this podcast episode, please. Yeah, I just want to listen to it's this one. We got some good ideas for cooking.
02:13:02
Speaker
yeah True. Yeah, we absolutely are. And last question I got for you guys before we move on to the bonus level. With every 3D mainline game essentially being accessible now on modern platforms aside from heroes and unleashed oddly enough still. Pain. Do you think that we'll see support and ports for those games on modern platforms in the future?
02:13:26
Speaker
Please bring Unleashed, man. I need it so bad. Dude, I think there's a possibility. I think that, uh, I think that if we're talking about both games individually, uh, I think that Unleashed has a better chance of just getting a port. Although I don't think, I think if Sega is smart, they'll probably, instead of just porting it, they'll probably do like,
02:13:47
Speaker
uh something like they did with like colors ultimate for example um where it's like there's like a couple of extra things it's like upgraded graphics although some people were really upset about how they changed some of the graphics and colors uh but like with colors specifically in the game like the actual colors of things were like washed out more um but like you know you could still run the game at like higher like frame rates and stuff like that like if we could get that for unleashed sick Uh, but I think it's more likely that heroes is going to get a full on remake and unleashed would get like a, like a remaster is, is my guess, or like is also more likely to just get a straight up port. Okay.
02:14:28
Speaker
I think it could be like ah like shadow sonic gens that honestly might be the blueprint from now on where they do like a remaster or a remake and then um just going straight up like ah like make a sort of side game alongside it with some sort of character. I don't know i don't think it would be shadow. but Shadow at least. Shadow now turns into the werehog as well. Man, he doesn't need to get any more edgy.
02:14:55
Speaker
I mean, honestly, no, I'm fine with it being edgy, but I don't know if he needs that. I think he can just fight just as much as the werehog can, you know? Yeah. but Yeah. I don't know. I think that they, if they are going to change on leash, they're probably going to like either a swap out where hog levels or like maybe re design them to maybe be a little like faster or like a little bit shorter. So that that way people don't complain about it as much.
02:15:24
Speaker
Um, you can see it, but honestly, the thing that I expect for next year is we're probably going to get a Sonic spinoff game, um, rather than like a port or a remaster. And I don't think we're getting a main release either. So I think, I think that next year is likely the year that we would see something like a Sonic riders.
02:15:43
Speaker
please or maybe like a ah Sonic shuffle. Who knows? Sonic Chronicles 2. I don't think they're going to get too kooky and wild right now. I think they realize they kind of have a good thing going on. So they don't want to make take too many crazy risks. In fact, I think that's actually why they with the year of shadow and like Sonic movie three coming out, they decided to do this because Generations is a very well received Sonic game among pretty much everybody. I mean, I would I regarded it as like one of my favorite Sonic games for a long time. So I feel like a remaster, but also tacking Shadow on here, kind of like a Bowser's Fury type beat is like.
02:16:31
Speaker
a really good way to do this. um Because like if they took a bigger risk, let's let's say remaking Shadow 05, I think that they could have maybe done it and it'd be like, okay, but like at least this has the safety net of generations. I don't think that they could have been able to do Sonic Adventure 2 because they still need to, if they're gonna do that, they should definitely remake Adventure 1 first. It would be really weird if they skip that.
02:16:59
Speaker
yeah i think if the adventure games ever get remade because let's it'll be let's be real at this point it would be a full-on remake and i feel like it would be they would do it both games in as both games as one i think they should yeah yeah i think with like two sides do it yeah and i think that would be really cool for them to do i just don't think that It is, uh, something in the super near future. I think that that like, this was just the best option for them to like, but anyways, it's created this perfect marketing storm. Right. And I think that everybody is like really excited for this. Uh, they would be so dumb to like come out with another game, like Sonic and the secret rings where it's like, okay, it's, it's only on the switch and you have to use your joy con. Have fun. Uh, yep.
02:17:51
Speaker
Yep, they would. Yeah. All right. Well, I think with that, it's time for us to start closing this out and head on into the bonus level.
02:18:03
Speaker
Crazy lists, great deals, and recapping gaming history. It's all here in the bonus level. And to kick it off, we got this week in gaming history from the 7th to 20th. 02:18:46

And on the 16th of 2014, Ireland issued four postage stamps depicting Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Super Mario, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
02:19:26
Speaker
There's W there's a piece of a video game memorabilia that probably is super expensive to find nowadays ah True a Sonic the Hedgehog stamp You think it tastes like Sonic? I hope so
02:19:43
Speaker
It's gotta uh it gave birthdays a demon on october 7th demon souls turns 15 on the 8th beautiful joe turns 21 on the 9th dishonored and xcom enemy unknown both turned 12 on the 10th metroid 2 the return of samus turns 32 on the game boy On the 11th, TAC2, the Staff of Dreams, turns 20. So that means there might be something there um for you a new Ace Attorney next year. It might happen. ah you On the 18th, Sonic and Knuckles turns 30. 30. Wow. That's insane. 30 years. And on the 20th, Borderlands turns 15.
02:21:37
Speaker
Now we go into our top five segments. This is for both of you. Top five upcoming games that you'd like to speedrun or slash like to see a speedrun for.
02:21:50
Speaker
Well, I think I know one for both of us. Yeah, well. Sonic Shadow Genz. One of them's kind of a layup. It's definitely Sonic, Sonic X Shadow Generations. We're going to be grinding that game. Aside from that one, then what are the other four for you guys that you would like to see? Or even three at this, if you if you don't have a full list.
02:22:13
Speaker
Let's see I think near future I want to try doing shadow the hedgehog I feel like it's pretty fitting to maybe mess around with that a little bit before the new game comes out Even if I don't do any runs, I think that'd be cool um Man, yeah, I don't know if I can do five, but we'll just do three. Yeah, yeah absolutely. Another one I really want to try, I saw SuperSonic do ah Sonic 3 and Knuckles at TwitchCon. That was sick. And he ah that run looks amazing. Like, I actually, speaking of Sonic and Knuckles, like, I really want to have run that. It actually looked really fun. All right. And what about you, Len? Well, I actually do have a few. i'm like
02:22:56
Speaker
Uh, well, obviously shadow gens. Okay. So let's, let's get that out of the way. Um, I really there, I've been craving and it's just been a bad time, but like, I really want to get into a Zelda speed run. Um,
02:23:12
Speaker
And more specifically, I really want to do Wind Waker just because it's my favorite game of all time. I've always wanted to do a run of it. But also, I'm like mildly interested in the newest Zelda game, Echoes of Wisdom. um That game is already insanely broken. If you don't know, they've already found the like the game hasn't even been out, I don't think, a full week yet, has it? um No.
02:23:37
Speaker
um um Yeah, not a full week. yeah Not a full week. I retire with recording. Not a full week. Yes. But ah a few days ago. So this is only like maybe a few days after the game released. They found the ability to wrong work in the game. um Yeah. So they're already you can already basically get to the end of the game as at the time of recording. The best known time that I personally know I don't even know if this is the current world record is 52 minutes.
02:24:07
Speaker
So let me tell you how fast this changes. Right before we hopped on this call, I saw Onaku, a Sonic Frontiers runner, actually. ah He uploaded a 50-minute time. So it's even faster now. Yeah, 50 minutes, dang. So yeah, that I mean, brand new game. This is just kind of the nature of it. ah People will find new strats. People are grinding it all the time. Obviously, things aren't super optimized yet because people have like, at most, people will have like probably a couple hundred hours in the game if they're really fucking grinding, right? Like they're really on top of it.
02:24:35
Speaker
um But you know, like information goes quickly. There's like glitch hunters that come out of the woodwork that like won't even speedrun the game, but they want to like find the game breaking glitches. um And yeah, ah the the only thing, though, about specifically that Zelda speedrun is that or Echoes of Wisdom is it seems a lot of the speedrun is intro because ah I saw like basically unskippable intro for like the first like 15 to 20 minutes of the game. So that means there's only about like
02:25:06
Speaker
you know, like 30 ish minutes or so of like doing the run and a lot of downtime. Like if you get into a, with a run that short, you're going to reset a lot. And that means you're also going to have to watch the intro a lot. So definitely we'll see how that run kind of shakes out more so. and And like when the dust settles, I might like look at it. Um, maybe.
02:25:30
Speaker
just maybe metaphor will be a cool speed run. I'm hoping that it has more of a chance than potentially persona because it's like less like it looks like potentially less linear. um Yeah. So I think there could be some maybe some cool stuff found with metaphor. And if that's the case, and maybe I'll give an RPG run a try. Of course, I still got to play the game. um Yeah.
02:25:53
Speaker
But like it definitely looks more interesting than persona, I would say for a speedrun perspective. Yeah, because that's I mean, that's the downside to persona is it's very like it's very on rails. A lot of the optimization is just like probably getting good luck optimizing fights and optimizing ah like paths through like.
02:26:14
Speaker
Uh, like Tartarus, for example. Right. Um, so it's like, it's, there's not a lot you can really do there. So hoping that metaphor, like it's like a similar formula, but has more open world stuff that you can like interact with or like maybe have a game breaking stuff to make it faster. Um,
02:26:32
Speaker
And then lastly, because I was talking about it earlier, the new Dragon Ball game, Sparking Zero, um I think maybe if there's a cool like so story thing that doesn't take 600 years, even though it seems like it's probably gonna have a lot of content, maybe that would be kind of a fun one-off run.
02:26:51
Speaker
I don't know. Individual arcs will probably get its own speedruns. Yeah, individual arcs I think will get their own speedruns for sure. True. um But who's to say like how long those are gonna be? And maybe like an all arcs run would be like a fun like thing to just try, you know?
02:27:08
Speaker
as like a little challenge or something. um So, yeah, i I'm definitely going to be tuned into that as well, because I've always kind of played around with the idea of running one of those old Dragon Ball games, because some of the runs actually are kind of cool for like the Budokai games, not Budokai Tenkaichi, but like the Budokai games. So, yeah. OK. All right. All righty. Oh, with that, we headed to head to head two games, enter one game leaves, and I've pitted Persona 3 reload against Persona 5 Royal.
02:27:38

Who wins? I think Don and I might have the same answer. ah Yeah, Persona three for sure. Yeah, for me. Yeah, me too. um i I think I would have already said it with base Persona three, just because I like the story and like the vibe so much. um Like Persona three is a fantastic game, but I feel like ah there's a little less like substance in a way than like a lot of the older games. Like, I don't know, maybe maybe that's harsh to say, but ah It definitely feels worse going back and playing P4G and a Persona 3. Looking back at 5, I'm like, oh man, it's definitely a good game. ah Very stylish, ah very fun. It probably has like some of the best combat in the series. um But overall, man, I just can't beat the story of Persona 3 for me. Yeah, I think that is one of the biggest factors for me as to why I also pick P3 Reload. It's just because, like,
02:28:34
Speaker
Without spoiling too much of like the story of either game, ah five, it just feels like the the stakes are lower. um It doesn't feel as though there is like any like impending doom, really. It's just like.
02:28:52
Speaker
You go from one bad person to the other. And I think that the character interactions in five are really good. Persona five is what got me into the series. And I will admit that I did not finish Royal. Um, so my perspective may have, may have shifted a little bit. If had I finished Royal, but I, I Royal came out very soon after I finished vanilla P five and I did play a bit of it.
02:29:16
Speaker
ah Got to experience some of you know, the quality of life changes and stuff and some of the cool new things that they added But like I didn't finish the new like extra story they had and um I will say the end game of Royal is very, very, very, very, very good. it is Yeah. I love it. Yeah. And honestly, I probably do. I, you know, I intend to probably go back to it at some point. It was just like way too soon after finishing it. But I will say persona five, no matter what, it got me into the series. I think people should play it. I think that, um, uh, but also there's a bit of recency bias. I feel like probably for persona three reload, but that game made me hella emotional.
02:29:53
Speaker
And i did I think it it just is a a story that if you you consume like video games as like a source of media, I think you need to play it. I think I think it is that impactful of a game. Like I think it'll change your perspective on life in like a very positive way. So but the impending doom is Luke from Street Fighter six. I too would.
02:30:18
Speaker
And you see that joke is funny because Alex Lee is the voice of your main protag is also the voice of Luke Yeah Also,
02:30:30
Speaker
also it's just been a killer year for Alex Lee as well. Yeah. Yeah, he's been doing it. He's been doing like ah Streaming and stuff too, right? Yeah, he he remade the, it's hot as hell in this funky ass room I'm in. Is that the Grim Reaper? Dude, I love that meme so much. I was crying laughing when I saw it. oh Yeah, he's ah he's a really talented dude. He seems really chill, so.
02:30:57
Speaker
Alex Lee, if you ever want to come with a podcast, hit me up, please. get honor he yeah ah It's a Tony's game poll. Our seasonal poll. That's a brand new this season. ah The question we got if Kingdom Hearts 4 was to add any Disney or Pixar World to the games that has not been in there. What world would you add?
02:31:17
Speaker
Um, do you have one? Cause I have two. Um, um i dude, honestly, this is kind of hard for me because I am, I have not consumed a lot of more recent, uh, like Disney, Pixar media. So like, I don't know what it, what's your answer? So I have two. um One, I would say the one that I am the most passionate about, they need to have Coco. Dude, I hear that movie is killer. I have not watched it, but it's like I hear it's so amazing. So I forget exactly what they call it, like probably like Land of the Dead is what it is. um And.
02:31:55
Speaker
Dude, oh my god, I'm just imagining like Sora, Donald, Goofy, or I guess if it's Kingdom Hearts is forward, just maybe it's just Sora, I don't know. um But like just imagining them in like the Halloween town esque, you know, like costumes like that, but like that version of it, I think would be so sick. It's just a visually amazing. And I don't know, I think it would just be a really good fit in Kingdom Hearts.
02:32:20
Speaker
Like it's just perfect for it. Yeah, that's that's a good choice. um And then the second one I think would fit amazingly has like such good parallels to like Destiny Islands and all that. Sora could relate so bad is Moana. Yeah, that'd be so good. ah Oh my gosh, like setting out to see.
02:32:39
Speaker
Yeah. Setting out to see all those themes of like, you know, like I, I'm serving this greater purpose now. And like, I was kind of thrown out into the world trapped on this island my whole life. Like it's such similar themes to for Sora and Moana. I feel like they could bond a lot over that. That'd be cool to see that interaction actually. Now that you're like saying it, cause I haven't seen Moana, but i the way that you're describing it, I'm like, Oh wow. It sounds like like Sora would get her long really well with them. So yeah.
02:33:05
Speaker
so Such a good both of those movies incredible i have to like I can't show them enough. They're really good ah All right With that ah the deal your deals of the week ah your free game on epic is bearing breakfast until October the 10th Your steam sales there's a Capcom ah Tokyo game show sale up until the 8th of October and the Akupara games anniversary sale until October 13th Your achievement of the week is an epic Mickey rebrushed. 02:33:49
Speaker
If there's a game old or new that you would recommend to the audience right here, right now, what game would it be? Hmm. Well, actually, I have a new addiction recently, um and I'm knows this one. I've been playing. ah I'm super way to it. So I've been playing. I forget exactly how to say it. Bellastro. Is that how you say it? Oh, that's right. Bellastro, tomato, tomato, really.

Game Recommendations and Reviews

02:34:13
Speaker
True. It's so good, though, like it's actually addicting.
02:34:16
Speaker
um I went to buy it on my phone because I heard it just came to mobile. And so I was playing it and I'm like, man, this is so fun. I was playing it a lot. And like then I was like, man, I want to play this on my computer. And I'm like, but I already bought it on my phone. And then I bought it on my computer anyway. And I'm like, dude, this is so fun. I finally beat like my first run the other day. And I'm like, just I just keep playing. It's actually so sick. Poker as a rogue like who knew it would work?
02:34:46
Speaker
sort of It does just work. It's so fun. If you like that, don I'd recommend Paglin. Oh, yeah. I've seen Trader play it. It's it's good. I've been playing it too. it's It's really good. It does look really sick. Yeah. And Emerald, what about you? What's your guest game recommendation? Oh, boy. um I've been sitting here thinking about it and it's kind of hard. So I'm actually going to provide two, but it's just because one of them is a bit easier to get into than the other.
02:35:11
Speaker
um If you have the time in your life to play Xenoblade, you absolutely need to play Xenoblade specifically to get to Xenoblade 3. However, the downside to playing that is that in order to get the really like full appreciation of Xenoblade 3, you do have to play 1 and 2.
02:35:33
Speaker
and both of the games are 100 hour plus games and honestly worth I think the experience if you like JRPGs uh super great but an easier one to digest which is also kind of cheating is uh a game we talked about earlier Alan Wake 2 um true it is a game that like it's from like a type of like it's from a game genre that I'm not particularly fond of generally And I don't really like the horror genre of all things. Yeah, it's like it's not really a game that like I don't really seek out to play horror games. I just kind of like ended up playing it just because of like through recommendations of people close to me. um And it was an experience I didn't regret. And Alan Wake 2 specifically is just such a phenomenal game. um And you do that does. I would, like I said, recommend playing the other games on your way to getting there. But I think the payoff is so worth it in Alan Wake 2.
02:36:28
Speaker
and whatever they come out with next as well. Mm hmm. Are you going to watch the Alan Wake series and when that eventually releases? um I think I probably will. I don't know exactly um how it ties in to the games, but I'm sure it will. And ah just like knowing like how like they do like story things and just like how rich and in depth that like world is, you know, I'm sure that it will like at least be nodded to in future games. So, ah yeah, I'll probably watch it.
02:36:59
Speaker
Alrighty.
